(A/N: Just a little twist to what happens at the end of Final Fantasy X.)
"I…I'm sorry I couldn't show you Zanarkand."
That's what he would say? Yuna thought, disillusioned. We had won, finally, and…no, he can't go!
Yuna was aware of her friends reacting to this as well, but her focus remained on Tidus. She watched in despair as he slowly looked down and strode away. He glanced back at his friends, and stumbled for words.
"G-goodbye," he muttered quickly, and turned away.
"Hey…" Wakka muttered.
Rikku herself stuttered, before yelling out, "We're gonna see you again!"
Tidus walked faster and brisker now, with a little more confidence than before. This was his fate; he had to accept it.
Yuna, on the other hand, wasn't doing so well. She gasped and ran straight into Tidus's arms. He noticed, and outstretched his own, only for Yuna to run straight through him.
Yuna hit the ground rather hard.
Wakka, Rikku, Lulu, and Kimahri cried out as they watched the scene unfold.
Tidus, now only aware of what was happening to him, slowly glanced upward. Everything's happening so fast, he thought. And why does it have to happen?
Yuna crawled up slowly from the ground and sighed, closing her eyes. All the memories of her and Tidus flooded back to her, and she had to say something. As she stared at the yellow sunset, a sad smile found a way onto her lips. "I love you," she whispered softly.
Tidus, having just heard those three words, turned around to look at her. He breathed heavily as he watched her look ahead at the colored sky.
Yuna continued to stare off into the sunset, when she could feel Tidus's breath on the back of her neck. Soon, he wrapped his arms her body and leaned his head on her shoulder for a few moments. A few, precious moments that meant everything to Yuna.
She felt him turn her head gently to face his, and felt Tidus kiss her softly.
Sighing, Tidus swallowed slowly, and breathed in as he walked through her and ahead, never looking back once.
Rikku waved and Wakka wiped a tear from his eyelids, and Yuna watched with peace as Tidus stopped his stride. He took a sudden running start, and before they all knew it, he had jumped off the edge and was gone.
