If I had never met you

Disclaimer: I do not own Warriors Hey, everyone, I decided to do a one-shot about Firestar and Graystripe, and how much they need each other and what would have happened if they had never met. Just an idea I had to get out of my head.

Firestar lazily sunned himself outside of the den. Narrowing his eyes, he lazily traced circles on the warm earth with his claw tip. It was the middle of green-leaf, and the heat had taken its toll on ThunderClan. The warriors were in no mood to hunt or patrol, not that he blamed them. He let them lounge around camp all day; it wasn't like ThunderClan was the only clan being affected by the heat. Prey was scarce, seeing that all the mice, voles, squirrels, and rabbits that roamed the forest were sleeping in their burrows. The sun was making hunting all the more difficult.

"Firestar?" Asked the voice of the cat he would trust with his life-and all his clan mates' lives too-Graystripe.

"Yes, Graystripe? What seems to be the problem?"

"Well…..nothing, really…..I just wanted to know if you wanted to talk with me."

"Alright. What would you like to talk about?" Firestar asked the former deputy.

"I don't know…anything, really." Graystripe responded.

"Firestar, thank you." He blurted out.

"For what?" Firestar questioned his friend.

"For being there. If you had never joined ThunderClan, things would have never been the same."

"No, Graystripe, I should be thanking you, because if you had never attacked me that evening all those moons ago, I would have never joined the clan, and therefore Tigerstar would have taken over. Scourge wouldn't be dead. Ravenpaw would be in StarClan. The pack would have overpowered us. So many cats have been saved from a single action you took-so it is you who should be thanked, Graystripe."

"No, Firestar, I merely guided you into the clans, it was you who did all those things."

"You helped me achieve these things, Graystripe. I would never have stopped Tigerstar without your help."

"I would never have been deputy without you, Firestar!" Graystripe stated in a jokey tone, earning him purrs of amusement from Firestar.

"You were a wonderful deputy, Graystripe, beaten only to Whitestorm. StarClan wanted Brambleclaw, and they must be respected."
"I understand Firestar, our ancestors must be respected. I don't mind, really."

"The Clans owe you so much, Graystripe. They have no idea how much you've done for them."

"They owe more to you, Firestar, they would be scattered and destroyed if you were never born."
"Graystripe, thank you for helping me since the days Rusty the kittypet wanted nothing more than to tread in the woods, the days Firepaw, Graypaw, and Ravenpaw pushed to discover the truth about the death of Redtail. Everything. You are just as needed as me."

"Thank you Firestar." Graystripe murmured as he drifted off to sleep beside his closest friend.

"You're welcome, Graystripe." Whispered Firestar as he closed his eyes and waited for sleep to come.

Well, how was that? It probably sucks, I know. I wrote this in like, a half hour. It's my quickest yet! (Well, it is, like my second fanfic, so of course it is. Lol.) Anyway, R&R please! Thanks!
