Hermione ran her finger along the spines of the books on the shelf nervously and licked her lips. She really didn't have any reason to be nervous. What she was doing here wasn't illegal or against school rules as such.
Well, maybe a little against school rules. She was sure that had to be a rule against snogging between the bookshelves of the Hogwarts library, but she hadn't found one yet. Madame Pince probably wouldn't be particularly happy about it at least. Fortunately there was little chance of that happening either. Hermione had chosen this specific place for a reason after all.
Hermione reached forward and pulled a book off the shelf, a familiar tome of muggle classics that she has enjoyed before. Maybe this was a bad idea after all. Maybe their little secret rendezvous was asking too much. Maybe-
"I'm sorry I'm late," a familiar voice said panting slightly. "We had Quidditch practise and Rodger had us out for longer than planned."
Hermione turned and her eyes met a pair of beautiful brown eyes looking down at her with a mixture of concern and love. Hermione loved those eyes and that silky black hair and…well everything about the older girl really. She allowed herself to lose herself in the girl's eyes.
"Cho, I…" Hermione began and the other girl put her arms against the bookshelf on either side of Hermione. Suddenly Hermione found herself unable to speak as she looked up at Cho's face. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Cho, I…" her words dropped away. They were very close now, their faces were almost touching and a worried look crossed Cho's face.
"Hermione, are you okay?" she asked and Hermione mentally cursed for not having the courage to tell her girlfriend what's on her mind. Instead, she opted for the cowards option and wrapped her arms around Cho and pulled the older girl into a powerful kiss, one that made her whole body tingle.
"It's nothing," she said as she finally pulled away. Cho still looked dubious, but she didn't pursue the matter any further. She leaned forward and kissed Hermione once more.
"Bloody Hell!" a familiar boy's voice exclaimed and the two girls broke apart to see Ron Weasley standing at the end of the bookshelf. "So THIS is where you've been disappearing to in the library!"
"What are you doing here Ron?" Hermione demanded even as her face slowly turned red.. Beside her, she could feel Cho's face burning.
"Harry and I were just wondering what we'd done to upset you!" he protested, before looking sheepishly at Hermione. "Well, what I had done to upset you. Because it's normally me after all."
Hermione chuckled with amusement. The look on Ron's face was simply priceless, a mixture of embarrassment and shock that suited him perfectly. She grabbed Cho by the hand and smiled at him.
"Ron, I'd like to introduce you to my girlfriend Cho," she said, before giving Cho a smile. "Cho, this is one of my best friends Ron."
Nice to meet you Ron," Cho said almost shyly, not entirely sure what to say. She gave Hermione an embarrassed smile. "I guess we're going to have to introduce ourselves to our friends now."
"I won't tell if you don't want me to!" Ron protested and Hermione smiled at him.
"No, it's okay Ron. I've been wanting to tell you guys for a while now anyway," she said with amusement. "We'll tell the rest of them tonight after dinner. Until then…"
"My lips are sealed," Ron finished and he did a zipping motion across his lips. Hermione smiled. It seemed like Ron had given her a chance to do what she hadn't managed to find the courage to say herself.
