Intergalactic Savior

He comes out of nowhere, just like always, and she starts to wonder how he always manages to find her in just the nick of time. Did he hear her call out for him, begging to be saved, or was he just so in-tune with her, he always knew?
"I'm here," he says, over and over as he gathers her up against him. And despite the agony, the near-death tremors that wrack her, she can't help but think that here, in his arms, is where she was always meant to be. Fate has a way of throwing them together, be it through death, hardship or triumph.
"You… always are," she managed, her smile crooked and a little limp as she feels her body shutting down. Too often she's known this feeling.
He stares at her like it's the first time he's had to find her at death's door. It's happened so often now, she wonders why he doesn't simply accept this little part of her life. She'll most likely live and he'll sternly lecture her on how she shouldn't get herself into such dangerous situations, but it won't change anything. He'll stare at her tenderly, tell her words that will strike a chord inside of her, and she'll wish desperately that his "I'm Here's" would be in sweeter moments.
He strokes her hair from her face, smiles and replies, "And I always will be." And then they're gone in a brilliant array of red and she closes her eyes, enjoys his arms around her and wonders, briefly, if danger is always so close to her because she knows that with it comes him. But he's at the hospital before she can ponder it too much and he's telling her she'll be okay, squeezing her hand tightly and staring at her with green eyes full of warmth and tender affection and she thinks, even if she does die, it'll be worth it. Just to have had him in these moments, all put together. Her own intergalactic savior, Clark Kent the farmboy, the true love of her life and death.
