InuYasha doesn't belong to me. I am merely borrowing the characters.
Sesshomaru sighed, as he leaned against a nearby tree. It was late, and they had just set up camp. Rin had gone to bathe, and Jaken was busy collecting wood for the fire. It wasn't long, before Rin came back, her hair still slightly wet. Rin had changed little over the yeas. She had grown, and had become a bit more like Sesshomaru, but that just could've been because she was not 14.
Sesshomaru frowned suddenly, because Jaken hadn't returned yet. After a while, Sesshomaru decided to go after the annoying toad. He was shocked, though he didn't show it, when he did find him.
Jaken was frozen in place, staring at what looked like a lake of blood. In the middle, was a young woman. Her eyes were blank, as she stared up at the sky, her face had a look of pure malice on it. Her wrists were bound, and placed peacefully on her stomach. Her ankles were also bound, her legs stiff and straight. She had several small wounds on her arms and face, but the one that had obviously killed her was the one on her torso. It was just one big X, the edges were very jagged, almost as if she had been fighting her death, even as she was bound. It was then that he picked up on the quiet murmurs of Jaken.
"No, Lady Mochi, you can't be dead, not after all you've done to help. Not after all you've done." He just went on like that, seeming to be repeating himself. This puzzled Sesshomaru, since Jaken had an extreme disliking for anyone who had ningen blood in them. He took a step closer, and the Tenseiga started to pulse strongly. Sesshomaru found himself hold the Tenseiga, but he had no clue how it had gotten there. His arm suddenly had a mind of its own, as it swung the sword, and the woman let out a piercing scream. It had been the scream that hadn't made it out of her throat as she had been killed.
Jaken rushed over to Mochi, and helped her sit up. She looked around, completely lost. That is, until she saw that she had been in a lake of her own blood.
"Those bastards," she growled out. She seemed to notice Jaken, and frowned confused.
"Jaken? What are you doing here? And why am I even here? Those bastards decided that my time had come, and I was to be…"
"Calm down, Lady Mochi. I am still traveling with my lord, and he brought you back." Jaken had said this in a kind, loving voice, as he carefully removed the rope from her wrists, and went to work on untying her ankles. While this was happening, Sesshomaru took a closer look at Mochi. She had long, curly black blue hair, which was dull due to the blood. She had on a white shirt and a pair of white hakama, the back stained a deep red.
She leaned against Jaken, and simply passed out. Without a word, Sesshomaru picked her up, and carried her back to their camp, Jaken keeping up with him the entire way. Rin ran up to them, and looked at Mochi, as Sesshomaru set her near the fire. Rin shook her shoulder suddenly, and Mochi cracked her eyes open. Rin whispered something to her, before she helped her up. Rin led her away from the camp, and Sesshomaru knew that she was probably going to help her bathe.
Sure enough, Rin came back, all but dragging a sleeping Mochi. She had been bathed, and Rin had given her one of her spare kimonos, even if it was a bit small on her.
"What happened to her?" Rin asked softly, as she arranged Mochi by the fire.
"Jaken found her. She had been brutally killed. This Sesshomaru does not know how or why, though." Jaken cleared his throat.
"Lady Mochi had been used as a priestess sacrifice."
Yes, I am very well aware that mochi is rice cakes made from pounded rice paste, but it's also a delicious ice cream treat.
