Paint The Roses Red

Ah, there he was.

Wearing a classy, black tuxedo, Midorima Shintarou leaned against the sturdy wall behind him with a glass of red wine in his held by his hand. Even if he was only standing there with a frown marring his features, he stood out among the guests inside the room, for that face of his was just undeniably handsome and attractive. His green hair was neatly combed and held back by gel with a few strands falling just above his long and thick eyelashes. Though they looked bored and uninterested, his emerald-like eyes were still charismatic, and once could easily tell his pale skin was soft and smooth to touch.

She let out a chuckle. The guy would have looked much, much more than that if he wasn't frowning and scaring off the people around him with sharp glares and boastful remarks.

Well, being a snob and all, it was very typical of a rich guy like him. She should know that by now, since she already met more than hundreds of them in her entire career. There were some who were cool and easy to talk to, while others (like Midorima Shintarou) were just as hard as a rock and difficult to knock over.

Despite knowing the chances of her failing and all, she didn't stop herself from approaching the green-haired man.

"Hello there, Midorima Shintarou."

Her greeting was light and quite playful, and thankfully, she caught his attention.

"I'm Takao Kazunari," she said with a grin. "A great pleasure to meet ya."

He stared at her for a bit, and silence occupied the air around them. A few seconds afterwards, Midorima's already-deep-frown deepened even more.

Her eyebrow twitched in annoyance and confusion.

Kazunari just kept the smile on her lips as she wondered how the hell he could keep that thing on his face. There was nothing to frown about anyway. Not that she was boasting or anything but she was damn sure she wasn't that ugly. She got long, black hair which matched her silvery blue eyes. She never missed a day without working out, and for God's sake, she was goddamn sexy. All and all, she was downright beautiful, thank you very much.

Moreoever, this guy should be thanking her for acting nice to him. If it wasn't for the fact that he was the target, she wouldn't even bother to do this. Rather, she'd pull her gun out and shoot his brains out for good, but -

She had to cope with this. She had to stomach the haughtiness of this man.

"What are you doing here?" His sudden question took her slightly by surprise. "Why do you know my name?"

"In the world we are living in, it'll be a real surprise if many people don't know your name," she shrugged her shoulders before she grinned widely. "I'm bored, too, and you look like you can use a bit of my awesome presence."

"... Hn."

"So, are you enjoying the party?"

"Not really," he replied nonchalantly. "It's too bland."

'Of course, he's not enjoying it, stupid,' she thought to herself. One could easily tell that he could defeat Fukurokuju* with that horrifying yet overly powerful frown of his. And, gods, how did he do that? How could a normal person frown that much?

Well, she should get things moving for a bit and add a little spice in his life, then. It wouldn't hurt, right?

"You have a date or anyone?" She asked playfully.

(It was kind of obvious that he didn't have one. He probably turned down the ladies' invitations and went to this party by himself only because none of those girls were good enough for him. He looked like he didn't want to talk about any of it, though, and she just happened to feel, ah, curious about the matter.)

Midorima glanced at her and looked away immediately. He straightened himself up, and after taking a sip from his wine, he answered, "No."

She smirked slyly. "Turned them all down, eh? Well, aren't'cha a heart breaker, Shin-chan?"

The frown on his face was starting to lessen now, but little by little, anger and irritation replaced it. For some unfathomable reason, he looked hilarious when he was acting all angry, and that very much surprised yet entertained her.

"Shut up, Takao," he said right before he started walking away from her. He paused for a while, though, and he turned around just to tell her, "Don't call me 'Shin-chan'."

To that, she let out a huge, amused grin.

"Wait! I'm coming with you, Shin-chan!"

Takao Kazunari decided.

Midorima Shintarou was a rich and handsome man with a snobby and prideful personality. He was also surprisingly peculiar in way, and he would become amusing when he'd get irritated.

He was interesting, and she'd love to get to know more about his weird yet funny side, but -

"Leave me alone, woman. You are very annoying."

He would never let her change her motives and missions. Midorima Shintarou was her target, and getting attached to a walking corpse would surely lead her to failure.

She couldn't let that happen because in this assignment, failure would only signify one thing.

Death.

* Fukurokuju - God of Happiness

(May 28, 2014.)

Despy's Note: I rewrote almost everything, haha. No worries, the concept is still the same. Didn't change Takao's given name. It's already girly enough, I guess. Hahaha. Anyway...

Comments, opinions and critiques are very welcome! Reviews, faves and alerts are very much appreciated!

(Oh, by the way, I am also writing a three-part story about Akashi. It's not finished yet, though. Some of you may be in-like with him so I thought I should (shamelessly) advertise it here. Hahaha. It's entitled 'From Diamonds to Ashes'.)
