Hey, my name is Oliver Oken.

But thats not important.

I live in Malibu, and I have 2 friends: Miley and Lilly.

Miley is secretly the popular rockstar Hannah Montana. And Lilly loves skateboarding.

Plus, I'm hopelessly in love with Lilly.

Can you blame me?

Lilly is tougher than any girl I know.

But underneath her tough attitude, something else is going on.

It all started when she got her new boyfriend.

His name was Jeremy and he seemed pretty nice.

Until the arguing started.

Every couple has their fights.

And Jeremy would yell at Lilly.

Not in front of me and Miley.

But he would tightly grab her arm and pull her aside.

I could hear him yelling and Lilly trying to explain.

Jeremy was a very jealous boyfriend.

Whenever he saw me with Lilly, he would tightly grab her arm and pull her out into a nearby hallway to yell at her.

Then the midnight calls followed.

Late at night, Lilly would call me.

Her voice was cracked and I could tell she'd been crying.

They had been in yet another fight.

I tried to comfort her, but even when she thanked me and hung up, I could tell that she was still crying.

And my dreams would be full of her wonderful face, and I would wonder who on earth would make such an awesome girl so miserable.

I was a little bit worried but it was just fighting, right?

I mean, they'd stop eventually, right?

Wrong.

It got worse.

One horrible day, Lilly showed up at school with bruises on her face.

She said that she fell off of her skateboard.

But I didn't believe her.

And now I was more worried than ever.

So I made a promise to myself.

I would find out what was going on and I would find the ass who dared to lay a finger on Lilly.

Last week, my worst fears were confirmed.

I was walking home when I heard a voice that was undoubtedly Lilly's.

So I followed that voice and I saw her on the ground with Jeremy kicking her and yelling at her.

Jeremy noticed I was there and fled.

Lilly was unconcious from all the beating.

As I cradled her against my chest.

I asked her almost lifeless body some questions.

Why didn't you break up with him, Lilly?

Why do you let him beat you?

Lilly, can't you see how much I love you and need you?

Lilly, can't you understand, that when I see you, my heart jumps with excitement yet aches with sorrow at the same time?
