Two Hearts in One
Muttering to herself Kagome stumbled in the fog as she followed InuYasha through the woods as he tracked the scent he had picked up earlier that day as they had been hunting jewel shards. Steadying her footing she continued on behind him as her mind wondered to that morning.
Flash back
Yawning in exertion, Kagome rose from her sleeping bag and went about fixing breakfast for the group, while smiling at the way Miroku held Sango in his sleep. Giggling she could just see it now, Sango waking up in the cradle of Miroku's arms only to bash him in the head as he incoherently tried to explain way he had been holding onto her. Putting a pot of water over the fire to boil, Kagome made her way over to the sleeping couple and gently nudged Miroku awake with her foot. Sleep laden eyes looked up at her as Miroku took in his bearings.
"You might want to move away from her." Nodding his thanks he disentangled his body from Sango's as he stood up and stretched out the kinks in his body. Walking over to a near by tree he sat down and leaned himself back against its broad trunk as he began to meditate. Staff leaning to one side of him, it was the perfect picture of tranquility.
Glancing one last time at Miroku, Kagome leaned over Sango and shook her gently till she saw Sango's eyes flutter open as she looked upon her with a sisterly love. Smiling at her she pulled Sango up with an offered hand as she turned and headed back to the pot of water to toss in some Raman noodles. Sitting down next to the pot Kagome slowly stirred the pots contents as Sango talked to her about all sorts of things in hopes of keeping her mind off the up coming battle.
Filling up some bowls Kagome handed them out to all her friends. Smiling as she ate, Kagome watched on as InuYasha and Shippou argued over stupid things that were hardly worth fighting over. Listening with half an ear she allowed her mind to fall back on the subject of what her dreams had been about for the last month.
"Get over here you RUNTT!" Shutting out of her reprieve Kagome looked up just in time to catch Shippou as he sailed through the air toward her with an angry InuYasha hot on his paws. Grabbing Shippou out of InuYasha's reach, Kagome glared at InuYasha as she yelled the cursed three letter word. "SIT!"
End flash back
Sighing, Kagome looked at InuYasha's back as he continued to march along ahead of her. Ignoring her as he stubbornly walked on ahead as he refused to acknowledge her existence behind him. Looking over her shoulder Kagome saw Kirara flying toward them with Sango, Shippou, and Miroku astride her back. Landing next to Kagome, Sango and Miroku dismounted as Shippou launched onto Kagome's shoulder before Kirara transformed back into her smaller form as she leapt onto Sango's shoulder.
Nodding their greetings they joined Kagome and walked along side her behind InuYasha's rigid form. Glancing between the two Shippou decided to break the tense atmosphere by chatting with Kagome about anything he could think of. After a few minutes of chatting, InuYasha yelled for them to shut up because he heard something coming their way. Dropping into fighting stances everyone prepared for the worst when out of the bushes ran…
