A song began to drift through the air around them and before either could stop it they joined hands and drifted towards the dance floor. All eyes rested upon them in shock, but neither paid any heed as they wrapped their arms around one another and began to sway to the crooning voice that spoke only to them.
Oh, oh my love
Oh my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long and lonely time
They danced on, eyes locked, amethyst gazing into emerald once again. Behind them their son stood eyes blazing with hate and pain, but neither paid him attention. There were just some things that needed to be done. They continued to twirl in their dreams, as the earth stood still…just for moment…and then began again in reverse. Years flying past like winds over the sea.
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love…
I need your love…
I need your love.
Across from them their other two children stood…one with her mother eyes wide and frightened her unquestioned fears mirrored on her face. With a gentle hand her mother pulled her close and embraced her tightly, no malice or jealous crossing her features. She knew and could except her husband's need for this moment with her. This was some thing that needed to be finished and she felt not remorse in allowing them this closure.
God speed your love to me
Lonely rivers flow
To the sea, to the sea
To the open arms of the sea
Two tears fell to the floor in perfect harmony as the old lovers cried for all they had lost in their young foolishness. One of the two results of this foolishness sat alone, blue eyes misted and uneasy at this display. Her tears may have joined her parents' upon the floor had a pair of strong arms not wrapped around her at that moment and kissed her blond locks and whispered to her in comfort. She turned into him and rested her head upon his shoulder her nose buried in his reddish black hair where her tears did finally fall.
Lonely rivers sigh
Wait for me, wait for me
I'll be coming home
Wait for me…
But it she didn't. She hadn't waited and she had paid dearly for it…as had her children. She let out a near silent sob and held tighter to him just praying that this song would never end. She didn't care how hurt her children were watching this. She didn't care how selfish it seemed. She needed him…a lock of wine colored hair fell from its confines atop her head caressing her neck softly.
Oh, oh my love
Oh my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long and lonely time
His emerald tear glazed eyes watched sadly as the few strands fell from her up do floating gently against her alabaster skin. With a careful and gentle touch he tucked them behind her ears and cupped her cheek with his olive skinned hand. She resisted his touch looking away from his loving stare so he whispered to her his voice caked with emotion, "Please…look at me." Slowly, she lifted her eyes to his own, not caring as crystalline rivers cascaded down her cheeks. Once more their eyes locked. The worries and pain of the world faded away and the years began to melt and bleed together. Suddenly, they were young once more.
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
There were no children…there was no pain… just each other as it once was…and for this moment in time forever would be…The distance between them disappeared and the closure they had sought for so long was there in one simple kiss…The song continued on in the background…but this didn't matter. It would end as all things do…but for this did not matter to them…the pain was still there…but that too would end. Garfield Logan and Raven found their closing, however bittersweet it may be…they shared and cherished a lover's kiss…
…one last time
