YESTERDAY'S HERO
PROLOGUE
Out in the British countryside, archaeology program Time Team was delighted to find a unique earthenware bottle.
"What is it?" asked the host.
The archaeologist shook his head.
"Never seen owt like it," he said, carefully turning the bottle over. Runic markings had been pressed sharply around the neck of the bottle. There had been some kind of stopper, but it had decayed over the centuries, and when the bottle was excavated some of the stopper had simply come away with the dirt.
Around the middle of the bottle the markings were large and clearly defined.
"Any idea what it says?" Tony peered at it.
"Well you see these markings, Tony, these are Ogham," the man frowned, mentally translating the characters, "it says... Merlin?"
They looked at each other.
Then they looked at the now partially-open bottle.
