Hello, everyone! First, I'm really sorry that I haven't updated any of my other stories in an extremely long time. I plan to work on that in the very near future, promise. Secondly, this is an old poem I had to write for class, back when I was fifteen (almost ten years ago), so if it's even worse than I think, I'm sorry ahead of time. It's loosely based off the Twilight Zone episode "Time Enough At Last". I remember his glasses breaking and him not being able to read, like he's wanted from the start. This is what I thought would happen afterwards. Please review-criticism is, obviously, expected. Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated, though.
Down! Down he plunged into the darkness of night.
He woke on ground as cold as ice.
The sky was a whirlwind of light.
Sitting up, he realized everything was wrong, and right.
Looking down, he sees the scurry of mice.
Down! Down he plunged into the darkness of night.
He looked around and was met by a blinding sight;
The lifeless bodies were covered with lice.
The sky was a whirlwind of light.
A lonely raven rose into the ashen air in flight
of prey with dancing eyes of gay.
Down! Down he plunged into the darkness of night.
Lifeless eyes stare, Oh! How bright
are the tears within them. 'Close them',he prays.
The sky was a whirlwind of light.
He stands on the edge of a cliff of great height.
He jumps off, with closed eyes and a smile, into
the murky depths of the bay.
Down! Down he plunged into the darkness of night.
The sky was a whirlwind of light.
