"You really shouldn't be out here." Steve heard the silky voice slice effortlessly through the wind raging on the Stark Tower balcony.
"Go inside, Loki." he mumbled, not bothering to raise his voice above the rainstorm.
"And if I refuse?" Loki smirked, leaning back against the railing Steve had his elbows on.
"What is it?" Loki asked, dropping the false cheer and becoming serious when he noticed Steve's expression.
"It's just...those kids," Steve sighed, "I know what it's like, living with an alcoholic father. My dad was like that before he left."
"I'm sorry," Loki hummed quietly, "if it helps, I put a spell on the father that will make him violently ill if he consumes alcohol." Steve looked up sharply and saw sincerity in Loki's eyes, something he didn't think possible.
"Really?" he asked suspiciously.
"Verily." Loki replied without pretence.
"Gosh, I love you!" Steve grinned, blushing and dropping his eyes when he realized what he said.
"Doesn't everyone?" Loki smirked.
"No, I mean-" Steve broke off mid-sentence and brought his soft, full lips to Loki's thin-lipped, and surprisingly warm, smirk. Steve pulled away nervously and waited for a reaction.
"I see." Loki smiled before kissing Steve back.
