"Hey tennis man, we need your help." Shadow said as he, Silver, and Knuckles were chatting with Waluigi in a lounge somewhere within the Smash Manor that only allowed in non playable characters, with it being one of the few places where the Smashers were not allowed in (with the rule extending to new playable characters that were formerly non playable as well).

"...And why would I help out?" Waluigi scoffed, having known Shadow due to the two dark assist trophies being close to each other since the brawling days of Brawl.

Silver sighed as he moved his hands, the psychic hedgehog moving up close. "Because we know you will help anyone in need if it benefits you..."

"Yeah, well post proof. I aint a charity you know." Waluigi responded as he was trying to read a book on how to cheat people out of their happiness.

"Rather, we should tell you what happened." Knuckles pointed out while placing his knuckled hands on his hips.

"You know what, I don't think we know where the town is." Tails commented as he frowned, with him and his best buddy Sonic in an obscure village near the Green Hill Zone.

"Can't you just ask the villagers around here?" Sonic pointed out as he wrapped his arms around the back of his head.

Tails squinted. "I could, but... I don't think they would want someone who flies over on their citizens on a regular basis."

Sonic scoffed as he patted Tails on the back. "You'll be fine, don't worry about it."

Tails gulped. "Well all right, if you insist..."

And so he went into town, spinning his two orange tails around. Which proved to be a bad thing as they all chased him and Sonic out back to the Green Hill.

"...so where were you going with this?" Waluigi asked while squinting his eyes.

"We kind of forgot..." Silver said sheepishly as Shadow and Knuckles were both offering different but equally awkward responses.

"Of course you have." Waluigi sighed as he rolled his eyes. "Well where where they heading?"

"I think Green Hill Zone. I don't know why they like going there, it's bland as shit." Knuckles explained as he began stretching his arms. "Personally I think they're letting nostalgia getting to them."

"All right, now we're not even focused on the actual story." Waluigi sighed as he chucked away his book, getting up and wrapping his lanky arms together. "How do we get to this generic starting location anyway?"

Shadow smirked as he held up an assist trophy item. "The same way we get teleported to the stage, of course."

"Isn't that temporary?" Silver pointed out while brushing his quills. "And how will I be able to go? I'm just a background element!"

Waluigi sighed as he began searching through his purple cap after taking it off his head, revealing his luxurious brown hair. "Hold on, I got something." He then pulled out a portal that led to the zone with green hills, pointing at it after placing it down on the floor. "All right morons, get in!"

Shadow, Silver, and Knuckles were unsure about this, which is why Waluigi forcefully pushed them in.
