Dream of Hopeful Reality

Casca lays there in agony, waiting for the rest of her unborn baby's body

to finally come out of her womb. She's holding Guts' hand tightly, not letting go for a single moment.

Guts is worried about his love. "Casca, keep pushing," he says supporting her. She screams as if someone were stabbing her over and over again. "Guts, it… HURTS!"

Her last push was a relief. Their baby lies there crying in a pool of blood. He grabs the baby. "We made one perfect son," he says to Casca. She smiles with content. She reaches her hands out to grab her son. Casca cleans the blood from his body. Tears roll down her eyes while the baby is looking at her. He looks at his father in a curious stare. "Welcome home, my son," she says while crying in happiness.

Casca wakes up and realizes that it was just a dream. What a peaceful dream it was.

That's the life that she wants. But she understands that the world she lives in won't give her that happiness. "Are you okay?" Guts asks hoping she is.

"Yeah…I just…was having a dream." She looks at Guts with a smile that meant for him not to worry. He forces a smile back. "Well was it a good dream?"

She nods. "Yes it was," Casca says with a tone that sounded like she wanted to cry.

A tear sheds from her beautiful black eyes. "It was so beautiful. I gave birth to a baby boy. You were so happy. That look you had when you first saw him was the look I've been wanting for you to have these years. That look of never-ending happiness and love."

Guts knows that the world she lives in now was nothing but sadness and blood.

He immediately holds her in his arms, tighter than ever. "Casca, I know you hate this world. I know you want to live normally. That's your dream, but my dream is to be with you, forever." She looks at him with tears in her eyes. He continues " I want to be there for you and protect you. I'll do what ever it takes to make you happy. I love you and I'll always will." Guts looks at her with nothing but pure honesty. Casca leans in and kisses him. He returns the kiss with the love and passion he has for her.

She knows that her dream has already come true…and it was to be with him for eternity.
