-1The water bending fight was fierce. Katara was evenly matched with Hamma. After making Aang and Sokka fight each other, she gained the ability that Hamma tried to teach Katara. Without learning it from her, she taught it to herself. Just in the time to save her friends.
This haunted Katara. Her hands held in front of her body, the technique was working. She felt a cold chill run down her back. As Toph and the other fire bender's that were held captive came running, Hamma laughed menacingly as she knew Katara was now cursed with the power of blood bending.
Katara fell to her knee's crying as the once held captives took Hamma away. Tears streamed down Katara's eye's as she now realized what she had done. Bloodbending.
Aang and Sokka held onto her as she cried. Something so horrible that had to happen to her, but nothing they could do about it made them hold a grudge. They hated seeing Katara so upset and so unable to do anything about it.
"Katara.. It'll be okay…" Aang could only voice out as he watched her petite body become racked with tears and sobs. He couldn't do anything but let her know he was there. What was there to do? He couldn't undo the bending that she now knew. Sokka looked up at Toph. She seemed so speechless for the first time. Not a word came from her. Sokka made the first move.
"Katara…" A hug. A simple hug from a brother that made such an impact upon the young water bender that she actually moved to hug him back. The tears still fell freely from her eyes and Aang and Toph actually moved back a step. They waited for a moment to get them moved. To get them out of the forest. To make camp somewhere safe. It was all they needed to do. With a nudge from Toph, Aang bent down beside Katara. The scene of her knowing what happened hurt him. That was the last thing he ever wanted to see Katara do. Cry…
"Sokka… we must move. We don't want anyone to find us here. We need to get out of this forest… make up camp outside of town…" His voice was low listening to the quieted sobs of Katara. She was wearing herself out. Everything she just went through drained her body of any energy. Sokka nodded and placed an arm around Katara and his free hand moved to Katara's face and wiped away a tear.
"Lets go find shelter…" He quietly mentioned to Katara as he helped her up. Her body seemed so unsteady that she couldn't' get her footing just yet. Leaning heavily on Sokka, Katara managed to walk. After a few minutes, the tears seemed to have stopped but her spirit was broken. It was damaged and scarred with the though of blood bending.
Sokka and Aang left Toph with Katara to get their items from the Inn of Hamma's. With only movements, Katara stayed by a tree until Toph had made the camp made of rock tents. Even then, she didn't move. Her eyes seemed stuck fast to any area of dryness just to get her mind off of water. She didn't want that power to hurt people. Make them do something against their will. It was against her own judgments.
The two guys returned back to see that Toph was sitting in front of one of the tents and was just as quiet as Katara. They didn't say anything, but only went about their doings. Sokka couldn't keep his eyes off his sister. He didn't' want to see her like that anymore. Looking at Toph and Aang, he walked over to Katara placing a hand on her shoulder and sitting beside her. She let tears fall again, and her head leaned on Sokka's shoulders. Comfort.. Would get her though this. Time would heal.
