I.

The elder Goblins had always told me to never ever, ever write in black ink when you're writing to someone about a will. I am not certain why. I broke that rule on occasion though, only for one family. The Blacks. Not just because that was their very name, nay- in some twisted way thats what they truly were. Heartless and devastatingly Black.

The only living, remaining Blacks are few, scattered and married. Bellatrix Black- now Lestrange- is in Azkaban. She will escape, I know she will, simply because it is Bellatrix. She was a whirlwind of undoubtable terror, chaos and dramatics, with a few strands of romance and insanity floating behind. She is bold and will serve her Lord to the end. Then Narcissa- fatally beautiful, composed and utterly indifferent... except to the men that chased her, to no avail. I hesitate to call her the most respectable because of her Lucius, the slippery fiend, and of her dabblings in runic blood magicks. Sirius Black is in Azkaban as well. He'll have enough houseguests there now. I never willingly dealt with him after he left. Only with pureblood families- not their exiles. Well, I did, until Regulus died. And lastly, Andromedea Bl- Tonks. What a digusting name. She was beautiful and proud in her own right. Tragic- falling for a muggle. I hear she has a daughter now- starting Hogwarts soon.

The purebloods are dwindling rapidly, their age coming to an end. Scandals are getting worse and more awfully numerous. Dumbledore, everyone likes that blasted man, doesn't care who you are, and that distorts everything. The purebloods were once noble, proud... used ot be something, just as I once was. But nobody pays attention to me. Not any longer. A Blackened portrait on the wall.

Phineas had to have some sort of job before Headmaster, didn't he? As a youth he worked with goblins because... he was interested (his father was) in a family alliance. Yeah. Or something.

Disclaimer: I do not own the Blacks, Lestranges or any of them. That all belongs to J.K Rowling.

The Black family have always been an interesting lot.
