A/N: So it's ZADR. Gayness ahead! No, I don't own them, Jhonen does.

"Zim, I'm here to stop you! Or else!", Dib screamed from Zim's lawn.

The small Invader looked out in the yard, finding that his gnomes had been expertly dismantled and were now lying broken all over the place. It looked like Gnomeggedon. The Invader glared at the young boy who occupied the house 3 doors up from him, the one he had known since the boy was still entering the dreaded 'puberty'.

"Dib-beast! Why do you destroy Zim's gnomes?"

"Well, duh! They tried to kill me!"

Zim pulled back from his window, puzzling on how having a dead Dib would be bad. Sure, the boy was fun to tease for having such a large cranium, but surely a dead Dib would be a good Dib, right? Zim looked at his rival, watching the only intelligent being on this planet shift his feet as he waited for his counterpart to come back. Shouldn't he have been trying to open the door by now? Actually, the more the Irken thought about it, the more he noticed Dib's subtle changes in method. Gone were the cuffs and the operating tools and in their place were soft, almost playful blows. And Zim had been returning them...

"Dib-human?", Zim called like he was someone who had lost their pet, "Come here!"

Dib was taken aback at that request. Rarely, if ever, had he been invited into the alien's house. This was new, this was weird and most importantly it made Dib suspicious.

"No...you come to me...", Dib hissed, pointing to the ground next to him defiantly.

"No, you."

"No, you."

"No, YOU!"

"No, you!"

Anyone who did not know the two well enough would probably right them off as a cute little couple having a lover's spat. In reality, this was a battle of wills, smarts, and nerves of-okay, it was a lover's spat. Dib wasn't going to pretend that it was anything else, because he had pretty much done everything that was required of a good crush. Taking care of Zim when he was sick, the two of them watching the clouds together when they were tired from a particularly vicious fight, all that good stuff. Now if he only knew if the alien felt the same way.

"FINE!", Zim finally shouted, stomping out of his house so he could quickly cross the lawn, "Now why have you been acting odd, human?"

"Huh?", That was not the question Dib had been expecting.

"You heard Zim! You have been methodically stopping your fights with me! Why?"

Dib took a deep breath, readying himself for the most embarrassing confession of all time.

"...Why does the universe hate Zim? Why does everything leave?"

Huh? What was the Irk talking about? His robot loved him, right? But... the more Dib thought about it, the more he noticed that Zim was kinda right. His Tallest had basically abandoned him here 3 months ago, not unlike Dib who hardly saw his dad or sister anymore. In fact, he probably ended up sleeping outside or in Zim's house at night more often than not. But there was always that one constant.

"I don't hate you.", Dib choked out, "And...I won't leave if you don't!"

"...You already were. You were floating away just like everyone else!"

Floating away? Did Zim mean that he was unintentionally abandoning him?

"Zim...I'm not gonna leave. I promised you, remember? I said I'd stop you at any turn."

"But your being soft-", Zim froze as Dib pulled his chin up and pressed their lips together.

It felt like heaven and hell and destruction and creation and sugar and lemons and-

And over.

"I'll never leave you, Zim.", Dib whispered, then took off, leaving a very confused Zim behind.
