My firstest Pretear fic. Just a little songficcy. Sasame's hanging out downstairs late at night and Kei catches him. The Leafe Knights are not mine, and the song is by Mary Chapin Carpenter.

Halley Came To Jackson

Late one night when the wind was still/

Sasame stared out the window from his perch on the sill. The house was quiet.

Daddy brought the baby to the windowsill/

There, what was that? He glanced around, then relaxed. Just his sensitive ears playing tricks on him. Or so he thought.

To see a bit of heaven shoot across the sky/

Shaking off the disturbance, Sasame turned back to the star filled sky, completely oblivious to the older knight's presence.

The one and only time daddy saw it fly/

Just outside the door, Kei was watching Sasame, wondering if he should go in.

It came from the east just as bright as a torch/

Kei ran his fingers through his hair uncertainly. He wasn't used to being up this late.

The neighbors had a party on their porch/

He preferred sunlight to moonlight, and usually let the others carry on into the night.

Daddy rocked the baby, mother said amen/

But still, here he was. Something about Sasame being up this late didn't seem quite right to him. Could he?

When Halley came to visit in 1910/

He shook his head at the thought. That had been a long time ago...

Now back then Jackson was a real small town/

Kei was half surprised at the memory. He'd been young as well, but he couldremember how Hayate, Sasame and Go had been.

And it's not ever night a comet comes around/

He smiled to himself, thinking how different the three were now.

It was almost eighty years since its last time through/

But it had, after all, been a long time.

So I bet your mother would have said amen too/

And he didn't need to be thinking about that at this particular point in time.

As its tail stretched out like a star dust streak/

"What are you doing up so late, Sasame?"

The papers wrote about it every day for a week/

Sasame turned, startled at being snuck up on.

You wondered where it's going and where it's been/

So, his mind had been wandering. Kei disregarded that thought, ready to admonish the younger knight, just like he'd been ready to then.

When Halley came to Jackson in 1910/

That night, those years ago. Back when he'd found Sasame up late, staring out the window.

Now daddy told the baby sleeping in his arms/

Rather than admonish Sasame for keeping such unholy hours, Kei settled into a chair by the window.

To dream a little dream of a comet's charms/

"Want to tell me what's bothering you?"

And he made a little wish as she slept so sound/

Sasame shook his head. Kei sighed. Sasame never talked about what bothered him.

In 1986 that wish came 'round/

Not unless prodded. "Mannen's not going to come send us off to bed like back then."

It came from the east just as bright as a torch/

Sasame glanced at Kei uncertainly, although he understood what the other knight meant.

She saw it in the sky from her daddy's porch/

Not getting a response, Sasmae turned back to the window.

As heavenly sent as it was back then/

"No, he's not is he? Things are so different...now."

When Halley came to Jackson in 1910/

"Like...?" Kei prompted, having a good idea what was coming.

And late one night when the wind was still/

But for once, the knight of sound refused to break the silence.

Chaos: Hi. Hope you liked this much of it. There is more coming, provided this gets a decent response. I don't think they're terribly OOC, and you can't call me on it if they are. Remember, late at night, anything can happen, when there's no one else around. Pleaz tell me what you think.
