"Hey, Marco!" Jackie greeted.
"Hi, Jackie!" Marco greeted back.
"So, what's your elective this semester?" Jackie asked.
"Um," Marco choked. "Well, I am doing... I- I considered a lot of electives; I forget which one it was."
"Oh, well I am in basketball."
"That- that may have been the one I chose. Sorry, my mind is just so far from school right now."
"What you thinking about?" Jackie asked.
"Right now? What I am saying," Marco prevaricated.
"No, not that. What is distracting you so much?"
"Something very important," Marco equivocated.
"What is it?"
"Marco!" Star called. "So I just got back from the drinking fountain, when I realized there were a bunch of black dots all over the ground."
"That is just the remains of Justin's science project, Star," Marco explained. He was secretly relieved.
"What was it?" Star wondered.
Marco covered his eyes and groaned.
"What?" Star asked.
"You don't want to know," Jackie responded.
"They are piles of mutilated bug parts!" Janna interjected.
"Thank you, Janna!" Jackie silenced.
"My pleasure," Janna responded. Then she walked off.
"Oh, so ... ick," Star related.
"What's your elective, Star?"
"What the wha?"
"You know, your special class."
"Uh, I want to ride warnicorns more often this year-"
"That is not your elective, Star," Marco interjected.
"Well, I am voting for electing Marco for the-"
"Star, that is not how it works! That is an election, not an elective!" Marco was very embarrassed.
"Oh. So, what is an elective?"
"It is a class."
"Oh. Boring. Why don't you two kiss?"
Marco was ready to strangle her little Mewnian heart.
"Wait, you just want to watch us kiss? Ew. Where did you hear about my new boyfriend?" an oblivious Jackie asked.
"Uh, Janna," Star responded.
"How does she know?! She is supposed to know, like, in four months, when its old news!"
"News passes," Star shrugged.
"Yeah, my boyfriend has his dad drive him to school in a convertible."
"What's a convertible?"
"They have a mansion, and he has perfect hair!"
Marco was not happy.
"Oh, so he's like your soul mate?" Star asked. She was just making it worse.
"Yeah, kind of, but deeper than that," Jackie ogled.
Marco couldn't stand it.
"Aw! You must like him like Marco likes you!" Star blurted.
"What?" Jackie stopped.
There was a moment of silence. To Marco, it seemed like an hour, and one of agony and rage.
"I said, you must like him like an old new do!" Star equivocated.
"Huh?" Jackie asked. "Oh, yeah. I tried my hair a little different today. What does that have to do with anything?"
Jackie's watch beeped. "Oh, sorry. I need to get home."
Jackie rode away on her skateboard.
