Pounce
By Soar318
Rustling bushes, leaves pushed out of the way by a fingerless gold glove, a single, gleaming forest green eye behind dark glasses gazing out of the big leafy bush the owner currently hides in…
A smirk, and a slight giggle, as the invisible figure watches the black, white, and dark purple figure lounging on a rock a few meters away from a foaming pool, into which a roaring waterfall poured, masking the sounds of the spy.
The grinning person crouches down on all fours, much like a cat about to pounce on a ball of yarn. A glint of sharper-than-normal teeth, and suddenly, a green and white blur shoots out of the bush, soaring through the air, heading straight for the black figure.
"!" the black figure shrieks, as the white blur crashes into her, and the two began to tumble head-over-heels, heading for the pool. A splash is heard, and the scream was abruptly cut off as cold water rushed into the owner's throat. A dripping, ebony hand latched onto a rock by the pool, and, muscles straining, pulls an equally dark and wet cat out of the water, her snow white hair streaming water.
Growling under her breath, she pulls up a pretty ivory colored cat, with midnight black hair. The two rested on the rocky shore, panting and trying to get their breath back.
"That was awesome! You should have seen the look on your face!" the younger of the two began talking happily, while trying to rinse the water out of her hair without messing up the loose braid it was in. "They were the size of dinner plates!"
"That's all very well, Jade, except that next time you try to pounce on me, I'm gonna give you some nice presents," the black cat mumbled, as she pulled off her dark purple boots and upending them, causing a stream of water and some seaweed to splash/plop out.
"What are the presents?" Jade looked questioningly at the older person, after taking off the top part of her gloves and wringing them out, the impenetrable cloth streaming clear liquid. "Since you don't seem like the type to give presents…"
Standing up, the black cat looked down out Jade, and smirked, "I'll tell you if you dry my clothes for me." Her dark purple velvet long sleeved dress, along with a jagged hem and tip of sleeves, paired with her thick boots and 6 inch iron gray belt, certainly wasn't going to dry out anytime soon. The white feline sighed.
"Alright, Onyx. I'll do it. You seem love bargains and deals all of a sudden…" Jade sighed, and, standing up, raised her arms, closed her eyes, and began to softly chant.
Suddenly, a hot, dry wind blew against the two, nearly blowing the older one off her feet. Then, in sync with Jade's lowering arms, the wind slowly stopped blowing, leaving the two felines' purple dress and strapless green top, edged with gold, gold, 6 inch belt, black boots, green pants, and emerald snake head bracelets dry.
"Well, sis, now are you going to tell me what the presents are?" the ivory cat inquires, tipping her head back to gaze at her twin as she sat down on the formerly wet rock.
"Two black eyes, some missing teeth, and a lump on your head if I'm lucky," Onyx smirks, as she too sat down next to her twin.
An eye roll, then another smirk. "I dare you to try that without Shadow noticing and going after you with a bazooka. Honestly, he's so protective of me sometimes…"
"I'm not surprised, considering you're the youngest and weakest of the family. Plus, you always get into some kind of trouble every six months or so."
"Oh, shut it, sis."
"You know it's true."
"That doesn't mean I can't deny it," Jade said, casting a sideways look at Onyx. "And I always just love practicing my pouncing skills…"
"Hey, no, WAIT!" The shriek was once again heard as the younger sibling crashed into the black feline, sending them tumbling over and over.
Jade grinned happily. This was the life.
And it only happened when she decided to practice her pouncing.
