At a Price
By: Song
Summary: Magnus won, but at a price.
A/U: I've had this for a few weeks, pondering weather I should post or not... I finally ran it past my sister and she agreed there wasn't anything more to add.
Remember to review! =)
It was a cool autumn day in New England and crisp brown leaves lay upon the ground, crackling when underfoot. An old man sits at a table- chess board set for a match, waiting for an opponent who will never come.
His hair is white, his hands are wrinkled and calloused. The breath of winter rests upon his face, and the world is quiet.
Eyes down cast, Erik Lensherr sighs.
His power did not capture him as it used to- there was none to test it against. The metal that had once comforted him in the confides of Auschwitz was now chilling to the touch. The mind games he had so enjoyed were lost in days gone by and the dream he had once pursued seemed nothing but a childish memory of ambitions forgotten and discarded.
Even manipulating the trace amounts of metal in his body allowing flight held no alure anymore.
Along with his friend, the meaning in life had slipped away.
