This is my first ever published and completed fanfiction, so there might be some grammar mistakes. It's really short so I apologize. Review please! Thanks.

What happens after death?

People grieve for them. They put flowers by their tombstone, they think of them when they were alive.

But they also pity their spouse, because they have lost a companionship, lost someone they loved.

They pity Minerva McGonagall.

Minerva McGonagall was always known as the cold teacher- stoic, motherly and strict.

But when her husband died, something inside the Professor changed. She was no longer the unemotional, caring teacher. She distanced herself away from everyone, aloof and alone. She turned down all means of help and comfort, something she thought was unnecessary.

Slowly, her health deteriorated. Her refusal of eating had finally taken its toll and she became weaker and weaker until one day when her body had finally had had enough and she collapsed.

The weak Professor was taken to the hospital wing. She had been given all the medical help needed to help her recover, but she couldn't, not mentally. She had lost her will for living.

The day came when friends and family crowded around her deathbed. Some were already grieving, grieving because she too was going to leave. Some pitied, because she a suffered, suffered because of death.

But before she closed her eyes and breathed her last breath, she had one last conversation. A conversation with someone she had loved and cherished, but had left her.

"Minerva."

Albus!

"Minerva, please. Don't kill yourself for me."

I'm not killing myself. I'm being killed. You know who's killing me?

"No."

You. You're the one killing me.

"But we are in separate worlds now, angel. I cannot harm you."

You can. You can harm me. Mentally. Do you know how much it hurts?

Do you know how much it hurts to have someone you love so much taken away from you?

"I do."

It hurts. It's stabbing my heart. It hurts Albus, because whenever I see a couple holding hands, hugging or kissing, I envy them. I envy them because that used to be us.

"Oh Minerva."

I love you so much Albus and I miss you. Why did you have to leave?

"It was necessary. It helped Severus gain Tom's trust. "

Oh.

"Minerva, please don't leave yet. You have much to live for."

I have nothing to live for, Albus. Nothing at all.

"Yes you do. What will the students do after you leave? They rely on you to protect them."

There is nothing to protect them from now. You-Know-Who has died and so have you.

"Minerva, you must learn to accept that I won't come back. Please, Minerva. You are strong enough. Please, live for both of us."

Albus, I can't. I can't live without you. I'm sorry.

"Yes Minerva, you can!"

I can't!

"Minerva. Look at these people around you. These people care for you!"

I know! But, I can't!

"Minerva, this is the last chance you have at living. They will help you. Please."

No, Albus. It's not these people, I do love them, very much. But it's you! It's you who I want! These people can't give me the love and the romance that you gave me! I miss you! I miss your scent, chocolate and lemon sherbets and I miss waking up next to you every morning!

"But Minerva, love, life is worthier than death. Do this for me Minerva. Please. Don't give it all up. You've accomplished so much in your life to just give it all up. "

I can't. I'm sorry Albus. I think it's time.

"No Minerva, please. "

I'm sorry and I love you.

"I love you too."

And then, with that, Minerva McGonagall took a look at the people who cared for her, smiled, took one last breath and closed her eyes.

As people lay down flowers on her tomb, they grieved and pitied her, but they were also happy for her, to have had such a fulfilling life until the very end.

The End.
