Hi everybody! This is my first story so… YAY! And without further ado… let's a go!

Chapter one: the ark!

I'm Shadow… Shadow the hedgehog. I live with my friend Maria, my creator Gerald Robotnick, and unfortunately my brother Alfa.

Gerald is usually busy with work so me, Maria, and Alfa would play in our room. We all shared one room, Maria had her own bed and me and Alfa had to share. I'm black with red stripes all along my six head quills, Maria had white skin, blonde hair, and a blue dress I must say it all went well together. And lastly my brother was plainly white with blue stripes all along his six quills, but his quills were more close together so it looked like a sphere.

We were living on a massive colony up in space called the SPACE COLONY ARK. Since my brother is a toddler I would mess with him and tell him we might fall any second. Of course he would get scared and start to cry, then either Maria or Gerald would get mad at me.

Today was slow so we were just playing games. We played duck, duck, goose (which I won), then hide and seek, and now we're playing go fish.

"Got any sevens?" I asked.

"No" said Alfa.

"Darn it" I mumbled. I then got a new card.

"Any fives?" asked Alfa.

"Go fish" I said.

"Yay! I won!" Alfa squealed.

"You did not!" I said.

"Did too!" He responded.

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"Stop!" said a female voice.

We turned to see Maria with a half concerned half sad look.

"How about we go over the instructions so we know if Alfa won or not" she said while turning to pick up the box with instructions.

But before we could talk there was a knock at the door.

"I'll get it!" yelled Alfa as he got up and ran to the door to be answered.

When he opened the door we saw a familiar sight.

"Hi Gewald!" said Alfa in his young, carefree voice.

"Why hello Alfa!" said Gerald as he messed with my brother's hair, which made Alfa giggle. "I was wondering if you all would like to come and see my latest work"

"Sure grandpa" said Maria with a smile. But I could see right through that smile. She didn't like his work, we all didn't, she just wanted to play with him.

"Well let's go" said Gerald.

we all got up and walked into the hallway. It would take all of us at least ten minutes to get there since the ARK was so big. It was also cold, more of a chilly feeling. We were all used to it… except Alfa…

"It's so cold!" said Alfa while his teeth were chattering.

I rubbed my temples in annoyance.

"Alfa, remember? We don't have enough money" I said to him.

"So?" he said still chattering.

I looked behind me and saw my little brother shivering all over.

"It's not that cold…" I said plainly.

"Yes it is!" he whined.

I turned back around with a sigh of defeat. "Kids are too much for me" I thought to myself.

So we continued on, waving to some scientists we knew along the way, until we finally made it to the lab where Gerald worked.

He put in the password so we could get in and opened the door.

"Well, here we are!" said Gerald.

We all turned to him, confused.

"I suppose I should turn on the light?" he asked.

We all nodded. Then he turned right and turned on the light.

My eyes widened in shock. Maria gasped. Alfa hid behind Maria's leg. Gerald smiled in triumph.

"Isn't it glorious?" he asked.
