Generation 1:

I won't give up

Leaf looked at Silver, folding her arms, "I don't care."

"What do you mean you don't care? I'm not someone you should be spending time with, Leaf! You'd be best off if you would just leave and forget about me!" Silver shouted.

"No, Silver, I wouldn't! I've only known you for a short while, and I know very little about you, but I want to learn! I want to see every angle there is!" Leaf replied.

"There are some things about me that you just don't want to know. I've done things, terrible things…" Silver said.

Leaf threw her arms around Silver, stopping him from talking, "I don't care." She began to sob, "You don't even have to tell me everything. Just don't push me away, no matter what you do, don't push me away!"

Silver's eyes clouded, and he put his arms around Leaf. "Okay. But… But if I tell you what I've done, who I really am… You promise that you won't run away?"

Leaf looked up at him, "I promise." She smiled, "besides, I know who you really are."

"I'm the son of Giovanni." He said.

Leaf tilted her head, "and I'm the daughter of the president of Silph Company. So what?"

Silver recoiled. That was usually a major deal-breaker with girls. "Well… It's just…"

"Your father isn't the best person. Does that make you evil?" Leaf asked.

Silver thought, "My Feraligatr, I stole it from Professor Elm."

"Does your Feraligatr like you?" Leaf said.

"Yes, but I-"

Leaf put her finger to Silver's mouth. "You're a good trainer, Silver. That can't be changed by who your father is, how you obtained your Pokémon, or anything like that. It's all about how much you care about them. Do you care about your Pokémon?"

"Yes, but…" Silver tried to talk around Leaf's finger.

Leaf turned her finger horizontal, completely covering the boy's mouth. She smiled, "That's all that matters. You saved my life, you're a good Trainer, and you're insanely handsome. Your father is a miniscule detail."

Silver blushed, and Leaf pulled her finger away. Silver took her hand, "Do you want to hear a song that my friend used to sing to a girl he liked?"

Leaf nodded, smiling.

Silver cleared his throat, and began to sing.

When I look into your eyes

It's like watching the night sky

Or a beautiful sunrise

Well, there's so much they hold

And just like them old stars

I see that you've come so far

To be right where you are

How old is your soul?

Well, I won't give up on us

Even if the skies get rough

I'm giving you all my love

I'm still looking up

And when you're needing your space

To do some navigating

I'll be here patiently waiting

To see what you find

'Cause even the stars they burn

Some even fall to the earth

We've got a lot to learn

God knows we're worth it

No, I won't give up

I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily

I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make

Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use

The tools and gifts we got, yeah, we got a lot at stake

And in the end, you're still my friend at least we did intend

For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn

We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in

I had to learn what I've got, and what I'm not, and who I am

I won't give up on us

Even if the skies get rough

I'm giving you all my love

I'm still looking up, still looking up.

Well, I won't give up on us (no I'm not giving up)

God knows I'm tough enough (I am tough, I am loved)

We've got a lot to learn (we're alive, we are loved)

God knows we're worth it (and we're worth it)

I won't give up on us

Even if the skies get rough

I'm giving you all my love

I'm still looking up
