I hear a gentle knock on the door. I figured it was just some drunken sorority boys playing a joke. Then I heard it again. I looked over to my roommate's bed. She lied there motionless. But what could I except, she came home at three in the morning also drunk?
I walked over to see if she was breathing. Yes. I looked around for my robe. When I couldn't find it I just slipped on my pink, furry night slippers and my way over to the door. I felt a chill run down my spine. After-all, I was just wearing a pair of shorts and a tank-top. I opened the door with slight caution afraid it really was a joke.
I froze. I was met with a pair of blue-grey eyes I knew so well. Even though I hadn't seen them for the last ten months they still haunted me wherever I went and whenever I slept.
"Mel", he whispered. My mind started to reel with questions, "what was he doing here?"Why did he want to see me?" I was cut off with my mental battle when he said my name again.
"Yeah", I replied. Wait, why was I answering his questions when he should damn well be answering mine?
"What are you doing here", I asked, anger lurking in my tone. I was surprised but I didn't care anymore. I had always been patient with him and I had had enough.
"I, um, I just wanted to talk to you", he replied looking anywhere but me. He was nervous. Good. He deserved it and I'm not going to try to make this situation more comfortable for him.
"Why the hell would you want to do that"? For once he was taken back. His head whipped up and are eyes locked.
"Mel, I'm sorry about what I did. It was a mistake. I just got caught up in a moment."
"That's bull Jackson and you know it." He had never heard me like this, not even after I found out about what he did. I didn't even yell at him then and I wasn't about to miss this opportunity.
"So, let's say I was working on a project and I got caught up in a "moment" and I kissed my partner, would you forgive me?"
He didn't reply. So I decided to continue for him.
"But let's just say that my partner was one of your best friends and I kissed them". "What would you do Jackson?"
"You have to believe me Mel, she meant nothing to me." The thought of her name brought tears to my eyes. They soon started pouring down my cheeks.
"Oh, Mel", he whispered. "I'm so sorry baby, I'm so sorry", he said as he pulled me into a tight embrace.
"Just give me another chance Mel". "I love you", he whispered.
But I knew he didn't mean it. If he did he never would have slept with Abby.
