Have A Little Faith.
'I never thought I would be so lucky as to have had a great, all consuming love in my life.
It's the little things I miss about her. Like her messy curly hair, light spattering of freckles and carefree smile.
I remember feeling like I hit the jackpot in love.'
Patrick Jane looks down fondly at the worn photograph of Angela and Charlotte.
Red John was killed a week ago and Patrick was finally allowing himself the chance to heal.
He can hear Charlotte's laugh and smell Angela's perfume without the stabbing guilt in his heart.
He can hear Angela whispering words of love and sweetness in his ear late at night walking on the beach, without dissolving into fits of sobs.
It was still painful; Jane doubted he would ever get over the pain. But instead of pushing their memories aside to focus on Red John, he embraced them like old friends. He let the good memories wash over him in a warm glow and locked up, blood painted fingernails and dripping smiley faces away in a small box. Never to be opened again.
There's a light knock on the attic door, "Jane?"
Jane smiles. Teresa Lisbon, his saving grace.
Lisbon's come back, no doubt, to retrieve her cross necklace from him. She lent it to him just before Red John was killed; Jane had again found himself falling into dark room of hopelessness of never finding justice.
"Have a little faith, Jane." She said softly, eyes full of love and determination.
Jane slides his gold wedding band off with ease and examines it carefully. He gently picks up Teresa's necklace from his pocket, unclasps the lock and slides the ring onto the chain.
"I'll always love you my beautiful girls," he whispers. "I'm keeping you safe with the only person I trust in the world."
He stands and makes his way to the door. Butterflies emerge in his heart and stomach, knowing this is the moment he tells Teresa he can't believe that he is so lucky to have found great and all consuming love.
Again.
