~Refuge~
She is his refuge.
His sixth year could be described as many things, the one that came to his mind the most was probably hell. He didn't want the dark mark, but it was fate, it had a place upon his skin. He didn't want to have a part in this war against Harry Potter, but fate had made it happen. He didn't want this impossible task but fate gave it to him. Sometimes it felt like he was paying for his parent's sins.
But she'd been there; she'd tried her very best to help him through his depression. Even she didn't know how to help him and she tried very hard to listen to her two best friends. Draco Malfoy is brandishing the dark mark. She wouldn't believe them, so he showed her.
"Oh, Draco," she'd sighed almost as if she'd been disappointed in him, but she raised his wrist to her lips, placing several feather-light kisses on his burden.
"I'm sorry," she'd looked up at him and he didn't feel like a failure anymore.
He tried to hide it from her, the pain he was feeling, and he didn't need her to share the burden. She had a life ahead of her, she'd be respected greatly one day after the war they all knew was coming. He'd just be looked upon as evil. Evil Draco.
But she'd find him most times, crying in the bathroom and she'd try to make it better, try to convince him it'd be alright and he'd try to believe her. He tried so hard. She'd clutch him to her chest and try to make it better and he gave in to the comfort.
And after the death of Albus Dumbledore he'd been whisked away by Snape and a number of other death eaters. But he'd managed to get to her before hand as she sat against a wall, tears slowly rolling down her cheeks and her wand clutched in her right hand.
He approached her slowly, kneeling down next to her and cautiously raising his thumb to wipe her tears away. She looked up at him.
"It's not me this time, eh?" he said, a brief smile on his lips.
She smiled too before whispering, "No,"
"I'm sorry," he whispered back.
"'S not your fault," she reprimanded him.
He heard Snape's voice, then, as it echoed throughout the castle, "Draco! Hurry!"
"I have to leave," he stated and she knows, she nods at him.
"Stay safe, Draco," she whispers, "Come back to me,"
"I promise," he smiles at her, placing a kiss on her forehead, prepared to face fate.
Thanks for reading! My first Potter fic, hopefully it wasn't as crap as my other first fics. :D
