Gok was a Rok. Roks are small, silicon based lifeforms no more than a
few inches tall, wide and thick. With well concealed sensory organs,
dull colouration and voices to low to be registered by other beings
they go largely ignored by the rest of Galactic Society.
Gok, however was special. He was a Jedi. He did not wield a
lightsabre, those things hilts were longer than he was, but a Jedi
nonetheless. As master Yoda had often said "Size matters not."
although he may not of noticed that Gok was also in the room at the
same time.
Gok had also been passed over during the Jedi purge since no-one
really ever noticed him. Also his slow pace of existence meant that he
was unaware of the purge and the rise of the Empire until five years
after it had happened. Now he was enroute to meet up with another Jedi
Knight since in these dark times they could use all the help they
could get. It had taken him another 12 years to reach the dry dusty
planet of Tatooine. He was currently stuck in Mos Eisley spaceport.
Gok was rolling along one day wondering how in the Force was he too
find the other Jedi and then get to him and then defeat the Emperor,
who, by most accounts Gok had heard was quite was then that he
saw two humans surrounded by the force. They also had lots of those
sparkly bits Master Windu was prone to ramble on about. Gok resolved
to help them.
However he was on the other side of a busy street. Were he to simply
roll across he would be quickly trampled, run over and crushed. But
Gok was a Jedi. Summoning the force he rose several inches. Then with
all his will he hurled himself across the street. Sadly the reaction
times of Roks are abysmal and glacial. In the time it had taken Gok to
notice and react to the two humans, they had met a pilot,
purchased passage offworld and were now preparing to leave.
Fortunately, due to the will and direction of the Force, Gok instead
struck the visor of an Imperial Storm Trooper. The impact cracked it and
impaired his aim. So instead of blasting the smuggler about to escape
with the two humans and more importantly, the stolen Death Star plans,
the trooper shot some politically neutral bits of masonry who had
harboured no ill feelings towards the Empire.
