"I cannot believe you!" River shouted as she burst through the TARDIS doors.
"I said I was sorry! Its hardly my fault." The Doctor countered following behind her.
River's eyes widened. "Hardly your fault?! Of course its your fault you idiot!"
"How?" He crossed his arms over his chest.
"Cybermen! Cybermen at the party Doctor! Tell me how that isn't your fault." River leaned on the console and pressed her fingers to her temples.
The Doctor let his arms fall to his sides, looking down at the glass floor guiltily. "I'm... I... m'sorry."
River sighed deeply. "I just wanted a nice, normal date for our anniversary. Just once."
River knew she was making him feel worse but she was upset. She'd never had a normal, uninterrupted anniversary date and had hoped tonight was her lucky night. She was sadly mistaken.
"Didn't even get to dance." She mumbled almost inaudibly.
River shut her eyes. She loved her crazy, event filled life. She really did. But sometimes she just wanted to have a normal experience. It doesn't mean she doesn't- hang on was that music?
River opened her eyes to see that the lights had been dimmed and soft music was playing. The Doctor stood behind her with his hand outstretched.
"Shall we dance Doctor Song?"
She took his hand and he pulled her in close.
With his hands on her hips and her arms laced around his neck, they spun in tiny circles around the console room. His soft breath rustled her curls and his lips kept brushing her ear.
The Time Lord pair danced the rest of the night away in the soft light of their space ship home. Not exactly the normal date they wanted but- oh who cares?
