Ten Months of Hell
Prologue
Aivenna laid on the infirmary bed, the pain coming in waves. Her eyes shut, darkness taking over her vision. She tried taking deep breaths to calm her nerves and settle the pain. The contractions were becoming too much to bare.
"Deep breaths Aivenna. Deep breaths." Intress said calmly as she held her hand. Her midwife was on the other side of her keeping check of vital signs.
"She's almost ten centimeters dilated." Polosa said and Aivenna opened her eyes to look at her.
"What does that mean?" She asked, her voice shaky and hoarse.
Polosa looked at Intress then back at Aivenna. "You're about to give birth." she said and Aivenna's heart nearly stopped.
Ten months of pain, of torture, of heartache and sadness has come down to this. It was coming down to the final moments before her baby was born.
"I'll bring the Healer in." Polosa said and exited the room.
"Aivenna, look at me." Intress said and she looked over at her (adoptive) mother. Her tiger striped skin seemed paler than usual and her orangish red hair was pulled back in a braid. She had been by Aivenna since the beginning and she wasn't going to leave her side. "You will be fine. I am here with you and I am not leaving. Drabe is in the waiting room and he will be in here after the child is born and everything is in order." she pushed back a strand of hair that had fallen into Aivennas face. "Everything will be fine. I promise."
Aivenna nodded and didn't say anything. She wished that Drabe could be in the room with her but, unfortunately due to traditions, males were not allowed in the room during child birth unless they were a healer.
Before Aivenna knew it, the healer was in the room and everything was ready. The Healer that had been appointed to her was a male who had the features of what humans called a German Shepard. He stood at eight foot seven and his fur was an almost black color. If it weren't for the fact that Aivenna was in severe pain, she would have found him extremely attractive as most Healers are.
She was about to give birth to her child. Her first child and she was scared.
"Aivenna, now, listen to me." the Healer said as he was getting ready to catch the baby. "On the count of three, I want you to push. Okay?" Aivenna nodded and the Healer counted. "Okay. One... Two... PUSH!"
Aivenna grasped her mothers hand and screamed out in pain as she pushed the first time.
Author's Note
My sister, AJ Nicholas (Look her up) helped me write this prologue and she will be helping me with the whole story. I'm more of the idea guy in this one.
Please review and let us know what you think.
