You're everything
Jimmy Palmer was in big trouble. He had told his girlfriend he could dance. He couldn't. He honestly had not thought that something he mentioned once would turn into this. Brenna had insisted they go dancing. So instead of being honest with Brenna. Jimmy had decided that he would learn how to dance. In one afternoon.
Tony DiNozzo was bored. Very bored. He'd done all his reports. He'd checked facebook. He'd even goggled the latest Gemcity bestseller. Still he was bored. He looked across at his partner. Ziva had her head over her lap. She wasn't doing paperwork. Nope, Ziva was reading. Tony put his mouth to his straw. Just as the elevator opened revealing a rather distressed Jimmy Palmer.
"Does anyone know how to dance?" he asked the entire floor. Tony looked at his friend.
"Why?" Tony asked. Jimmy moved towards the major case response teams' corner of the pumpkin walled floor.
"I told Brenna I could dance" Jimmy admitted looking down at his feet. "She wants to go dancing tonight I need to learn how to dance"
"Jimster" Tony uttered patting the younger mans back. "Rule no.1 don't tell a woman you can dance"
"I like men who can dance" Ziva uttered looking up from her book.
"Can you dance?" Jimmy asked. Ziva looked up again.
"Dancing is a very fingery skill" Ziva uttered standing up.
"Handy skill" Tony corrected. Ziva shot him a look.
"Can you teach me" Jimmy asked. Ziva stood in front of him.
Tony watched frustration grow on his partners face every time Jimmy stepped on her feet. She had made him take his shoes off to try and lessen the pain caused every time he stood on her feet. She had also made the songs get progressively slower in attempt to prevent her getting stepped on. A foreign swearword escaped her lips. Tony turned the music off.
"Prehaps" Tony begun "You need to see a dance before you learn to dance" Ziva looked up at Tony.
"May I have this dance" Tony said pressing the remote control. A huge smile crossed Ziva's face. 'Everything' by Michael Buble came on. Tony held out his arms. Ziva nodded. They began to slow dance. Their feet moving in time to the beat and together.
"You're every line, you're every word" Ziva softly sung as Tony twirled her out.
"You're everything" Tony replied as Ziva spun back in. Smiles crossed the pair's faces. Jimmy watched as the held each other as the song finished. Silence filled the bull pen but they still stood lost in thoughts.
Jimmy called Brenna. He told her the truth. She was disappointed. He explained the entire story. She laughed and agreed to watch a movie instead.
"Baby, don't pretend that you don't know it's true" Tony sung as he walked into his kitchen fresh from the shower. Ziva chopped the tomato.
"Cause you see it when I look at you" Ziva sung back. Tony wrapped his arms around her. He kissed her forehead.
"You're everything Ziva" Tony whispered.
"You're everything Tony" Ziva replied turning over and kissing Tony's lips.
Years later in a kitchen of a house in the suburbs their granddaughter would peek into the kitchen to find her eighty year old grandparents slow dancing and reciting the lyrics to the song.
