You Promised Me
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto. And actually, I don't really what it. Just Kakashi and Iruka. I'll take custody of them and any other characters can get visitation rights.
A/n: I'm terrible. I've been working on things I shouldn't lately. There are other things that should have had my attention first. But I've been going through so many files lately, backing things up, and I've rediscovered so much. I've been re-inspired for a bunch of old tales. So I know I'm bad for starting another Kaka/Iru fic before even remotely finishing my other one, but I actually like this one better. This one is suppose to be a multi-chaptered fic that will probably be into the double digits for chapter amount when it finishes. For now, here's a little glimpse into the story. So enjoy!
Prologue
Coughing up blood was never fun and it never led to anything good. On Iruka's list of things he wanted to be doing at the moment, coughing up the coppery red fluid was nowhere to be seen. But here he was, his lungs burning and his lips slippery, as his body rejected the plasma that gave him life.
The worst part though, was that the blood was so thick and he was coughing up so much that Iruka was never going to be able to get the stains out of his vest. A new uniform was expensive. 'I guess that's one good reason for me to continue this little dying process thing,' thought Iruka sarcastically.
Cough. Hack. Blood.
Pain.
With even the smallest amount of life still left in his body, Iruka could feel so much more pain than he should. Even as his death got closer and closer, the agony that pervaded in every single pore of his tanned skin grew in power and potency. He reasoned it was only poetic that since life was unfair to him, his death would of course be just as unjust.
Iruka never should have taken this mission.
The ANBU hastening from tree to tree in nothing more than the form of a vague shadow, rushing to reach the fallen ninja of his village could not agree with his friend more than he was feeling at that moment.
What a mess.
'If anyone can get all this blood out of this uniform, it will be a miracle,' Iruka mused.
A/n: Short, but it's a prologue. Which I've actually never really done before. I kind of like it. This fic will probably not be updated super frequently. It could possibly be a whole month before a new chapter is posted. I tend to get quite busy lately and there are other things I have to work on at the same time. I hope that doesn't put anybody off. I can hope that it will not be longer than a month and a half between updates. We shall see if the writing gods are kind to me.
Be seeing you on the other side of the rain,
