The thing the Doctor liked the most about traveling with a companion was that no matter where he took them, they were always overly excited to be there. Ari, his newest companion, was the same way; even more so when he took her places he knew she wanted to go.
She had told him more than once about how much she enjoyed watching the Sasuke, also known as Ninja Warrior tournaments, on TV. "The competitors aren't facing each other," she would say with an excited smile on her face. "They're facing the course and they all want to see each other succeed." It's right then that she puts her hands behind her head and smiles. "You can see it when someone runs the course, all the other competitors are running alongside, cheering them on… if you make it to the third stage, people even yell tips to you. It's fantastic."
"Would you run the course if you could?" he asked one day. Casual question over breakfast, she wouldn't think anything of it.
"Oh, of course," was the enthusiastic reply. "I'd be lucky to get past the first stage…" She thought for a moment. "Actually, I'd be lucky to get past the first obstacle of the first stage." The Doctor would laugh and ruffle her hair. The childish action always seemed to bring out the best in the twenty-three year old.
"I think you could make it through that first stage," he told her. Shortly after telling her that, the TARDIS landed. Looking at the monitor, the Doctor told Ari that they landed on Space Station Sasuke. "They've been working on this station for years, but this, Sasuke Five-Thousand, is the opening day." He looked at her; she was grinning.
"You may want to cover your ears," she stated. "I'm about to have an epic Fangirl Squee." The Doctor did cover his ears; Ari's Epic Fangirl Squees were indeed epic. And loud.
One the squee had finished, Ari grabbed the Doctor's hand and pulled him out the TARDIS doors. The sight before them was… unexpected.
"Doctor?"
"Yeah, Ari?"
"What are the chances that we parked in front of a couple of mirrors?"
"I'm hoping pretty good. If not, I'm going to have a lot of explaining to do…"
"To who?"
"Me." Before Ari could ask any more questions, the doors opened on the two other TARDIS.
"I'm telling you, Donna," said a Geek Chic dressed man stepping from the first TARDIS. "This is mankind at it's finest, science and…" As he continued, someone stepped from the second mysterious TARDIS; a taller man in black jeans and a leather jacket.
"Rose, you're going to love it here!" he exclaimed. "Shopping, museums, live music…" It was at that moment that the two men seemed to notice each other. Both had their jaws drop as they stared.
"Doctor?" called two different voices, one from each of the new TARDIS. "What's going on out there?" A girl stepped from each TARDIS; a blonde from Leather Jacket's and a redhead from Geek Chic's. They too stared at each other for a moment. Soon enough, all four newcomers looked at the Doctor and Ari.
"Hello!" Ari said with a cheerful wave. "I'm the Doctor!" Leather Jacket and Geek Chic stared at her in disbelief. The Doctor face-palmed.
"You couldn't resist, could you?" he asked. Ari flashed him a broad grin.
"Absolutely not."
