Feeling A Moment

When she wakes up her head is still resting against his chest, her arm is still wrapped around his body, his hands are lying haphazardly against her, she slowly moves to stretch a little, to turn her head to get the crick out of her neck, she yawns and looks up to his sleeping face, smiling softly at him as he breathes lightly. She manoeuvres herself out of his arms and reaches up to kiss his jawline lightly before slipping out of the bed and moving into the bathroom, when she returns she climbs right back under the covers and snuggles back against his body, breathing in the scent that had become so familiar, the scent of her boyfriend, her person, someone who will not hurt her.
All she can hear is the quiet sounds of the waves outside, his breathing, her own breathing, and that's all she wants to hear. Because in that moment, that first few seconds when she wakes up next to him, everything is clear, everything is simple, she doesn't have to worry about anything but right in that moment, it's the moment she feels the safest, because nothing can touch them, nothing can break them, it's just her and him, it's just them.
She closes her eyes and she can hear him say it 'you're just going to have to trust me, i will not hurt you, ok? i will not hurt you' she knows that moment will never leave her, the moment she put her whole heart in his hands, her whole being, her. That moment will never leave her. She never wants it too.
She knows he'll wake up soon, he'll kiss her good morning and they'll lay there together, they'll talk about the day ahead, all the things that bring them back to reality, out of that moment. They'll get dressed, both of them wearing one of his t-shirts and a pair of boxers and they'll go downstairs for breakfast. She'll sit on the counter and watch him as he prepares it for her with ease, they'll laugh when he teases her about her cooking skills, they'll eat together in a comfortable silence, because all they need is to be together. A 15 minute shower will turn into 30 because he'll distract her in all the ways she loves, which only gives them 10 minutes to dress before having to rush to the practice, but she's come to realize that 15 extra minutes in the shower with him is worth being a little late for work. She feels him move next to her, she knows the day is about to start, she knows the moment is coming to an end, she knows the moments going, she keeps her eyes closed, she enjoys it for one last second, she breathes in his scent and listens to the waves and the breathing and then she feels his hand move up into her hair so she looks up, and he smiles at her, and she knows then, that the moment, will always be there if he's around, because he will not hurt her, he's there for her, he loves her, their whole life, will be a moment.
