Jane walked slowly, trying to steady her breath. The sound of machines beeping and her feet hitting the white tile were the only things that she could hear. Turning the corner, the corridor was suddenly packed. Security guards framed the hallway, and nurses were frantically running in and out of rooms. Counting the numbers on the doors, Jane finally found it. Room 117. Stepping inside, she leaned against the wall, astounded by the sight in front of her. Thor, of all people, was crying. Not full out sobbing, but just enough that tears dripped onto the patient's blanket. Looking up, he saw Jane, and started walking out, bumping into another nurse. The nurse, who had graying hair, turned to her.
"You have ten minutes. He needs to heal, presuming that he does. We have no records of anything like this. Of all the things to attack Earth, we needed fire giants." She turned away and left the room. Jane approached the bed, and gasped when she saw the occupant. Burns covered what used to be pale skin, and he had bandages covering his side. Loki had never looked worse in his life. "Lo-" Jane croaked out, but stopped herself when he turned away. Jane took a seat in the plastic chair next to him.
"I was going through the dresser in the guest room the other day, just emptying out all the useless junk in there, right? You'll never believe what I found. Remember the dagger you gave me right after the attack? I'd thought I lost it." Jane stopped for a second, then continued on.
"Remember when you took be to Vanaheim to prove that the stars were purple during summer? Or when your mom got mad at us when we stayed in the library during dinner? We can do all that again. Just stay with me Loki, okay?" Tears were falling into her lap. She reached over and gently took his hand. "All you need to do is stay with me, and we could do everything. I just can't lose you."
The monitor to her right stopped beeping.
The line went flat.
He had left her.
