Chapter 1: Death of a Comrade
A/N: A fic about the succession of the first Hiko Seijuro, set in the Slayers universe

Gourry and Hiko Stood on the edge of the battlefield. It was a horrible sight to behold, the chimera Zelgadiss was crumpled into a ball the size of a fist, and Amelia lay beside him died because of a broken heart. The last three pieces of Shabrinigdo had been awakened and formed one giant mazoku so powerful that Lina had been forced to use the Giga-slave, and she had lost control. Now surrounded by a golden aura, she had defeated Shabrinigdo but the Lord of Nightmares had also taken her and this time she wanted Lina and her friends. She turned to face Hiko and Gourry. "Well" said Hiko "If we can't save her..." "We might as well kill her." finished Gourry. Gourry hated this idea but it did save her, and they couldn't let the Lord of Nightmares have her.
Shocked they looked up to see that the aura had faded a little. A tear rolled down her cheek as she said "Kill me before she kills you, I'll use the last of my power to slow her." Unable to control herself anymore, the golden aura blazed as she started towards them.
"As your protector I'll have to kill you to save you, but I'll see you on the other side and I swear I'll protect you better then Lina." Gourry then drew the sword of light and ran at the Lord of Nightmares as he shouted, "Lina I love you!"
Hiko was horrified. He had seen slaughter, true and had done it himself. 'That was just cruel' was his thought as Gourry was utterly destroyed. He cringed as he was splashed with the young warriors blood there was nothing left of Gourry except a spray of blood, and a locket with Lina's picture that he had kept close to his heart that had landed at Hiko's feet. As he stooped to pick up the locket the Lord of Nightmares asked, "What is your name warrior?"
"You won't be alive long enough to remember it." growled Hiko drawing his sword.

Is from volume 12 of rurouni kenshin and the name and technique of Hiko Seijuro belong to Nobuhiru Watsuki, but this character is mine. I'll put a pic with later chapters.
