She was 'Roberts', he was 'Atwood'; that's what they'd become to each other in high school, the playful banter, the laughter and friendly chats. They only really talked because she was dating Seth and him, Marissa. They were two of the Fantastic Four, Little Miss Vixen and Kid Chino and they were friends.

After Marissa's death she was his confidante, he was her comfort. She couldn't talk to Seth about losing her best friend, he didn't understand. Ryan did. He didn't want to talk to anyone; he'd left the Cohens and moved into a bar. He wanted to kill Volchok yet little did he know he was killing himself. She had told him, and he had listened, soon he confided in her and the pain melted away with their tears.

Once they started college she became 'Summ' and he, 'Ry'; changing to a first name basis with nicknames. He was in Berkeley, she in Rhode Island, neither of them in a serious relationship. Their phone bills grew with each long distance phon call as they talked about their loves across the country.

When either of them visited each other they were the 'best friends'. This is what the told everyone. Many believed them yet it wasn't until Ryan's roommate asked if she was his girlfriend that tensions increased and thoughts of a relationship came to their minds.

When college ended and they moved back to Newport for a break she was the 'secret' and he was the 'lover'. Tensions had reached breaking point and as soon as they kissed nothing could stop them. No one knew, and for now that was comfortable. Together, the pool house became their sanctuary.

When they moved into an apartment in Berkeley together, she became the 'girlfriend', he the 'boyfriend'. They had come out as a couple in love, making a deeper commitment. He worked in an Architectural firm; she did Environmental lectures at the campus. Pancakes and Flapjacks were their children, so they would say and the Cohens loved nothing more than to visit them frequently, especially little Sophie.

When she appeared in her white gown, he in a tux; she was the bride, he was the groom. They went back to Newport, choosing to be married on a perfect day at the beach. All the people thy cared for surrounded hem, Seth as best man and Sophie their flower girl. Together they became husband and wife.

When she discovered she was pregnant she became the hormonal mother, he became the neurotic father. Their love grew even more and so did their family. Together they had two perfect children, Josie Marissa Atwood and Jacob Seth Atwood. Nothing could've made them more complete.

They were Summer Roberts and Ryan Atwood through it all and never changing was their love for one another.
