Paris 1890

This night was perfect. The moon was beautiful and full, not a cloud in the sky. There was a thick, white layer on snow on the ground. It was breath taking.

I stepped away from the window, and got ready for tonight's gathering. As I walked down the hall to my room, I thought if I would see the man that keeps appearing in my dreams. I shook my head and opened the doors to my amior. I choose my nicest dress, a black corset that flows into a red flowing gown. I stepped into my red heels and walked to my mirror.

The girl in the mirror has very fair skin, long curly blond hair, golden brown eyes. Tonight she has light red lips, rosy cheeks, and there is a slight glimmer of hope in her eyes that hasn't been there since her parents died. As I walked away from the mirror, I heard a light knock on the door.

"Hello Jacqueline. How are you tonight?" I asked her putting my coat on slightly out the door.

"I am wonderful. And you dear?"

"I am fine." I smiled a half-hearted smile. I wasn't exactly fine, I missed my parents, I am tired from my strange dreams and I am worried about tonight.

The ballroom was magnificent. Everyone dressed up elegantly. Beautiful shades of gold, reds. As I walked into the door, you can hear the music playing and everyone talking and laughing. I felt at home here. My parents took me here whenever there was a party. I remember my first one. A masquerade. So much fun. But tonight, something was off.

I walked over to Jacqueline with two glasses of champagne. As I sipped on mine, I watched everyone dancing and enjoying themselves. Then I saw him. The man from my dreams. Dressed in the same attire, but he looked different from the other men. He was leaning against the wall talking to a younger woman, about 18. She looked like she was in a trance. She never looked away. I must have been not paying attention because I felt a light tap on my shoulder.

"Are you all right Nicole?"

"Hmmm... Oh.. Yes. Sorry. I thought I saw someone I knew. My mistake." I sipped on my drink and turned back towards Jacque.

The Night went a little better after that. Me and Jacqueline danced for hours, it was fun. I was talking to Jacqueline and a few others we met, when I felt a light tap on my shoulder. A low, hypnotizing voice followed asking, "May I have this dance?" I turned to see the man from my dreams holding his hand out.

We danced for a little when I noticed how handsome he was. He had long brown hair, slicked back. Amazing blue eyes, with yellow and green specks. He was tall, slender. He was amazing. Perfect. But there was something about him that made me want to run.

It felt like we danced for hours. When we danced everything disappeared. His hand on my waist, sent chills all over my body. He held me like I was fragile. Like he would hurt me if he was to hard. When the song ended, we stepped away and talked. He never told me his name.

The night went on and I needed to go home.

"Good night Jacqueline. I shall see you tomorrow." I hugged Jacqueline when the man came up to me again.

"May I walk you home?" I looked over at Jacqueline, looking for help. She nodded and walked away.

"S-sure." We walked out into the night. The walk was very silent. When I walked up the stairs to my home, I turned around and thanked him, "Thank you- uhmmm, what is your name?"

"My name is Dimitri."
