Drabble – Seriously

The banquet room was ready. The smells of succulent aromas filled the whole palace making more than one mouth water. The guests had begun arriving and now the King had only one more stop to make before he made his majestic appearance.

He opened the door at this last room and stopped right inside the door. The owner of the room finished lacing the leather around his slender tanned leg and stood.

"I've only just finished getting ready, Alexander, are you ready for tonight?"

Alexander still hadn't moved out of the doorway, in fact, the only part of his body that had moved was his eyes, taking in the magnificent being in front of him.

"You aren't going to wear that are you?" asked Alexander, finally finding his voice.

Hephaestion looked down at his attire and back up at Alexander with a confused look on his handsome face.

"Aye, is something wrong with it?" He said as he turned to look behind him to see if something was not hanging correctly.

"Yes, you need to change into something else."

"Why?"

Alexander looked away from the man in front of him for a few seconds, but his eyes were immediately drawn back to him.

"Because."

"Because why, Alexander? You gave me the cloth for this yourself as a gift, don't you remember? You must have liked it or you wouldn't have done that."

Alexander looked down again at the silky material adoring that magnificent body. The chiton was pure white with silver and blue stitching around all of the edges. Over this was a cape of blue, the exact color of the eyes of the man wearing it. Around his head was a silver band holding back the flowing long tresses of silk that Alexander loved to run his fingers through so much. The chiton was short enough to show the legs he was so famous for and still sent chills running down Alexander's spine.

Drawing his attention away from the body and up to the eyes again, Alexander saw the confusion still surrounding them.

"You need to change, and quickly, we are going to be late."

"You seriously want me to change my clothes?"

Alexander mumbled his answer and turned to look the other way to try and get his bearings back.

The touch of a hand on his shoulder, searing his skin, almost brought Alexander to his knees. The hand turned him back to look into his face, now only inched from his own.

"Look me in the eye and tell me you don't like what I have on." Hephaestion challenged.

Alexander gulped loudly before he began, "I love what you have on, and that is exactly the problem. So will everyone else in the room."

"Don't you know by now, my Alexander, that I dress only for you? I care not what others think."

A kiss led to other seriously nice things, and they made a late appearance.

Hephaestion was wearing the clothes Alexander had lovingly given him.
