Title: The Future's Heart

Summary: Apollo was in love with Cassandra and he blessed her with the gift of prophecy. When she saw a vision of herself with another, she knew she couldn't be with him. He was furious, and instead of taking her gift away, he cursed her so that no one would ever believe her again. Now Cassandra has been reborn, once again, with the gift of Prophecy. A quest is given to Cassandra and she has to figure out whether her heart belongs in the past, or the future.

Cassandra frowned as she looked out of her window. She didn't understand what she was seeing in her vision. It was indeed herself she saw, but at the same time, it wasn't. It was a younger Cassandra, maybe only fifteen years old, four years younger than she was now. It was impossible for her to become younger after she had already aged.

Cassandra loved Apollo, didn't she? That's not what her vision showed. Though, the boy she had been with did indeed look like Apollo. She sighed at the thought. Apollo wouldn't understand the fact that the Fates had destined for her to be with another, which meant he wouldn't take it gently.

Apollo gave Cassandra her gift of prophecy, and surely he wouldn't be afraid to take it back. Or do something worse. He was a god after all. He could curse her, or even make sure she goes to the Fields of Punishment.

Turning around, she jumped. "Apollo" she breathed. He was sitting on the edge of her bed, his eyes bright as he looked at Cassandra. "Hello, darling" he said, her cheeks becoming red. Apollo stood up and walked over to her. As he leaned down to kiss her, she turned her head.

"I can't do this" Cassandra said, tears threatening to spill. "Do what?" Apollo's voice was worried, slightly irritated. Cassandra's green eyes stared into Apollo's blue. "I can't be with you" she said, her voice cracking.

Apollo's eyes darkened as he said "And why not, Cassandra?" Cassandra looked down at her feet as she mumbled, "We don't belong together" Apollo's face was grim. "Do you have any proof to this… to this absurd fact?"

"I saw it. Me. Well, at least I think it was me, with someone else" said Cassandra. Tears were streaming down her face now. "Well, if that is all the proof you have," hissed Apollo, his blue eyes gleaming with betrayal and pain "I don't believe you. And in that case, no one else will in your lifetime"

"Apollo, please," she cried, "Think about what you're doing" Apollo's smile was malicious as he said "I have. And I swear it upon the River Styx" Cassandra sobbed, the palms of her hands covering her face. Apollo's gaze softened at the sight of the crying girl. Grabbing her chin, he made her eyes meet his own. "You can still change your mind, dear Cassandra"

"I can't" Cassandra softly said after a moment of silence. "Goodbye Apollo" With a flash, Apollo was gone, leaving her alone.

This is just the prologue. The regular chapters will indeed be longer.
