Meredith awoke to a gentle shaking. Zola, her eight year old daughter was softly shaking her and speaking quietly. "Good morning Mommy! Merry Christmas," she said, when Meredith finally opened her eyes. Zola was a very polite girl. She always use her manners and usually followed directions, but she had her moments. Meredith smiled and got out of bed. "Where's your brother?," she asked. Zola shrugged and said, "I'm not sure, but its not like him to sleep in on Christmas." Meredith held out her hand and Zola placed her hand in it. The two walked hand in hand to the door. They opened the bedroom door. "BOO!," screamed Cody, Meredith and Derek's six year old son. Meredith screamed and Zola gasped, tightening her grasp on her mom's hand. "Cody!," Zola exclaimed. Her cheeky brother smirked at her. "Yes?," he said. Meredith sighed and ruffled his hair. "Come on Silly Goose. Let's go find Daddy and open presents," she said.
Derek, who a had woken up earlier was sitting on the couch drinking his coffee and reading the daily newspaper. Cody ran to him and climbed into his lap. "Daddy! Merry Christmas!," he said, excitedly. Derek smiled and said, "Merry Christmas Cody!" Meredith sat down next to him and gave him a kiss and Zola gave him a quick peck on the cheek, before opening her presents. Cody, who had opened some presents earlier went to open more. Cody was a morning person like his dad and Zola and Meredith were night people.
Zola ran over to Meredith and Derek carrying a huge box. "Look what I got!," she said, placing it down with a thud. Meredith leaned forward to get a better look. "Sweetie, that's so cool. It's a tent! Maybe later Daddy will set it up and you and Sophia can hang out in it," she said. Zola hugged Meredith and said, "Thank you for the presents!" Cody showed Derek some action figures he got.
After opening all the presents and cleaning up, everyone got ready for Callie and Arizona's party. When everyone was ready, they left.
The next chapter will be a crossover with my Calzona and Tenry stories! Please review and thank you for reading :)
