A/N: Third in the contemplation series, Goro's piece

Warnings: Just a twisted view of reality

His reasons for traveling with Toan weren't exactly what you could call noble, but nor were they completely selfish either. It wasn't because it was the right thing to do or because it was what his father would've done or even because he wanted to have an adventure.

To be honest he had never wanted to be a hero; heroes always seemed to die in the end. His father had been hero, the greatest hunter in the entire village. And yet he still died, brought to his knees by a sickness that their medicine couldn't cure.

They said he changed after his father's death. That wasn't so, they were the ones who changed, always asking him how he was or how he was doing when normally they wouldn't give him the time of day. His mother had been an outsider and before his father's untimely demise they had regarded him as one as well.

She had left her family and friends to marry his father and move to a strange village far from anything familiar. While his father may have loved her with all his heart, it didn't stop him from leaving for months just to track down one beast or another. Most of the village shunned her because she was different. She was almost always alone. One day he woke up and found her lying in her bed, cold.

He had only been five years old at the time.

She was the only person he had ever loved and they had killed her. She had been fine the day before then one of the village elders had invited her over for tea. She had been so happy, so pleased that they were finally beginning to accept her and then she had died for no reason at all.

He believed he had every reason to hate the village, they had taken away the one person he loved in the world and had given him nothing in return. He had no one to play with or tell stories to, no one to be a child with so he grew bitter and angry. His father's death had only intensified it

Then the Dark Genie had came, Toan following in his wake. There was something about the brunette boy; he just couldn't put his finger on it. Maybe it was because he was an outsider like his mom or a hero like his dad. Maybe it was because he was marching towards certain death. But not going with him violated the one belief he held dear to his heart.

Nobody should die alone.

BloodyChaos: "I had a hard time with this one, I never really liked Goro or that village. I liked the background music though, it was pretty.

Zach: "I'm not even going to say anything.

BloodyChaos: "Anyways reviews would be appreciated, I'm going to go back to finishing up some other things."
