Hey, Angel, have you seen my Abbey Road T-shirt?", Jesse Krakowsky asked his wife, Abby Sciuto Krakowsky. Their family was getting ready to make a trip to London, England where their friends, Ellie and Clay Reeves along with their one year old daughter, Julia, had moved about a month ago. At the moment Caty Krakowsky, age six and Kelly Krawkowsky, age three, were busy choosing toys and clothes to bring with them. Abby looked up from helping her little girls and replied to her husband.
"Last time I saw it, Babes, it was in the dryer." Jesse smiled and responded,
"Thanks. I'll check." Abby continued to help her deaf daughter, Caty, gather what her service dog, Cocoa, would need. Soon, Kelly and Abby heard Jesse call from the Utility room,
"Found it!"
"Daddy found his favorite shirt. Now he can finish packing." Abby informed her children, speaking and signing at the same time. Kelly giggled while Caty grinned. Then Kelly held up her Moana movie and asked,
"Mama? Can I bring this to watch on the plane?"
"Sure, Sweetie. In fact, it's a really long trip, so you should probably pick a couple more movies" Abby said, before switching to sign-language and asking her older daughter,
"Do you want to choose some movies for the plane-ride?" Caty nodded and she and her sister ran off to their room to find some movies. Caty soon returned with five movies in hand. They included, Homeward Bound and Homeward bound II, a Benji four movie collection, Because of Winn Dixie, Anastasia, and Princess and the Frog. Kelly came back shortly after that with several Strawberry Shortcake DVDs, Rapunzel, Doc McStuffins, and Elena of Avalor, plus, of course, Moana. Abby smiled.
"Those are great choices, girls." Then she went with them to help them choose some clothes and PJs. Once they were all packed, Jesse said,
"Let's put everything by the door so it will be ready to go tomorrow morning, then we can go grab something to eat." The girls did what they were told, and Abby and Jesse got their own stuff together and by the door, then they headed out to Panera Bread to eat.
The next morning, the entire family was up by four AM to get ready to go to the airport. Gibbs would be there at five thirty to drive them. The evening before, Abby had received several phone calls from the rest of the NCIS family with messages for Ellie and Clay and little Julie. She, of course, promised to deliver them all. The family ate a quick breakfast and the girls grabbed their favorite stuffed animals and some toys and put them in their little back-packs. Caty's had puppies on it and Kelly's had Hallie, Stuffy, and Lambie from Doc McStuffins on it. Abby and Jesse had their carry-ons loaded and ready to go before breakfast. Abby had had her Skull tote ready the night before, but added Bert. Jesse just had his brief case with his laptop and some other things for the plane ride. After breakfast, the family just had enough time for teeth brushing and potty-runs before Gibbs arrived. Jesse answered the door when the bell rang.
"Hi, Gibbs. Abby an the girls are almost ready. Come on in."
"Mornin' Jesse. How's it going?"
"Pretty good. We're all excited about the trip in this house."
"I can imagine. Caty went to Azerbajan with you to get Kelly but neither of the girls have been on a plane trip since then, right?"
"That's true. They chose movies to bring on the plane and packed their bags with only a little help from us. And they can't wait to see their God parents and cousin Julie."
"Abs showed me a picture that Ellie had sent a few days ago. That little girl is growing like a weed."
"She really is. Kids grow up too fast."
"You can say that again." Gibbs replied, hiding the sadness he felt at remembering his own little girl who never got to grow up past grade school age. Abby then bounded in with the girls and Cocoa right behind her. Throwing her arms around her father figure, she exclaimed.
"Gibbs! Thanks for giving us a ride to the airport."
"Anytime, Abs. Glad to help."
"Grampa Gibbs!" Kelly shouted. Gibbs scooped her up and gave her a hug, saying,
"Hey, there, Kelly Bear! Ya ready to go to London?"
"Uh huh! Ca-Ca is too!" Kelly said, signing for her sister. Gibbs put her down and hugged Caty. The older girl nodded and signed,
"I can't wait, Grandpa Gibbs! Neither can Cocoa!"
"Well, then, Guess we better get going!" Gibbs said and signed with a Grinned after putting Caty back on the ground. The family picked up their bags and Caty took Cocoas leash and they headed to the car. At the airport, Gibbs hugged Abby and the girls good eby and shook Jesse's hand. Then the Krakowskys checked in their bags and headed to their departure gate, on the way, they passed a gift shop. Caty noticed a stuffed unicorn in the window that had a scarf with Washington DC printed on it.
"Mama! Daddy! Can we get that for Julie?" Caty looked at where her sister was pointing and tugged on her mother's shirt.
"Yes! Please!" She signed. Abby looked at Jesse who looked at his watch.
"Sure. I think we've got time." Abby took the girls into the gift shop to make the purchase. She also bought DC Magnets for Clay and Ellie, to give them a piece of home, or for Clay, the home he'd had for seven years. Then the family quickly made their way to the waiting room at their gate. They were still pretty early, so Jesse took the girls to get donuts and milk (white for Kelly, chocolate for Caty.) He also got a coffee and cinnamon roll for himself and a CAFPOW and a Banana walnut muffin for his wife. They paid and hurried back to the gate and had their snacks while waiting. Within half an hour, their flight was called and Abby and Jesse gathered up and helped the girls gather up. Caty showed the papers for Cocoa and the family was allowed to board the plane.
"Here we go!" Jesse said as the plane took off. Abby clutched Bert as they ascended. She really didn't mind flying. She knew she would be ok, surrounded by her family. However, the ascensions and descensions did make her a little uncomfortable. Once the plane was in the air, she got the girls settled with a movie, and then got out her i-pod. Jesse squeezed his wife's hand, and took out his laptop. They were on their way to another adventure as a family. Soon, they would be enjoying fun times with good friends.
