Prologue - Red under Moonlight

"Haruki! Mizuki!" a woman shouted as she turned and blocked the attacker's hit, stabbing trough her abdomen. She then collapsed onto the ground a few feet from the two.

"Mama!" they screamed in a distance, not moving from their spot. She looked over to their horror-stricken faces.

"I'm sorry. for unable.. to protect.. you.. but.. don't blame.. them.." then she fell limp at her last words, the boy quickly recovered himself and pulled his sister up and ran.

while they were running he was distracted, Don't blame them? Why? They were the ones that killed Mama?! but he didn't notice the previous attacker was readying an attack from the shadows away.

Everything happened in slow motion..

"Nii-chan!" the girl screamed as the attacker strike forward, she hurriedly pushed him away, receiving the attack instead, leaving him stunned.

"Mizuki!" the attacker had a sickening grin on his face as he laughed at the two. The boy hurriedly pulled her onto his lap as she fell, coughing out blood in process.

"Nii-chan.. Are you.. okay..?" she stuttered, looking up at him through hooded eyes.

"Baka! Shouldn't it be me asking that?!" he shouted in desperation as he hugged her tightly to his chest. She reached out and placed her cold hand to his cheek which he immediately clasped.

"I'm sorry.. for this.." she made a sad smile to him as he felt tears pricking his eyes.

"NO! You'll be okay.. right?" he stuttered in fear, his hold on her tightened as she was pressed into his chest.

"I can't.. stop the.. bleeding.. but" she paused, coughing more blood till there was a line of blood spilled from her lips.

"No.. Don't talk anymore.." he pleaded with teary eyes. She simply shook her head lightly, tracing his face with her hand that was on his cheek, wiping a tear from his face.

"I can.. put myself from.. dying.. but It'll.. take a while.. for me to.. wake up.." she reasoned.

"Do it! I'll do anything! Just don't leave me!" tears were now falling from his eyes but he didn't care, as long as she remained by his side he would do anything.

A soft smile lit up her face as her eyes began closing, causing the boy to she shake her body, clasping her hand to his cheek tighter as he felt it slipping away.

"I'm sorry.. And.. goodbye.. for now.." then she fell limp, her eyes completely closed and her body and mind shut down completely, her hand slip past his and fell onto the ground..

"Mizuki..? Mizuki! No! Wake up! You promised! Please!" he desperately pleaded as her shook her hastily.

Why..? What did we do to deserve this? Only you.. don't leave me.. Mizuki.. then he lost it, dark pillars began surrounding them as he dipped his head onto hers, brushing her bangs away from her face.

"I promise.. I'll protect you until you wake up.. so please.. don't leave me.." he spoke softly as the pillar grew wider, glowed with a dark aura and killed everything in sight, rotting everything that took his sister away from him.

That night was known in history as the world's black moon. Until the full moon, darkness and blood was sprayed onto the ground. A boy was standing in the middle of it, carrying a girl in his arms, they were surrounded by dead bodies as they disappeared into the dark night, never to be seen again.

That is until now..
