"Won't you be kind to him?"

"Why ask such a request from me?"

In another level of the sub-conscious, a multi-colored plain, Kushina met with the Kyuubi for one last visit. Time was short, she had to get across her message quickly but the fox was stubborn and bitter toward her.

There wasn't any more she could do; she no longer has a physical body. Never had any of them thought things would turn out this way. So here she was, pleading for his son's well being with the one of the world's most powerful beasts.

"Because you're the only one who can fulfill it now."

"Protect him? Be kind to him? You wish for too much, Kushina"

She finally met him, her son not very long ago. It wasn't how she wanted to meet him, she shouldn't have needed to meet him like that in the first place. Instead she died leaving him in the world with him. She was stuck with that fox for most of her life, keeping him inline inside of her. So she knew how terrible the fox could be.

Nonetheless Kushina had finally spoken with her son, telling him her own story while doing so. In retrospect she regrets not learning more about her dear son, semi-regretting punching him. Time was too short for them, again.

"I never asked much of you before. I did not need your power."

"You were useless to me for that. But his hatred his useful to me"

Love. that was the key to keeping the balance. It was the only way to handle the fox, her mentor and predecessor had told her when she was young. Negative feelings, hate, would give the fox control of her but love would protect them both. She wished to fill her dear son up with all the love her heart could give to him before her life ended. Sadly it was not enough to keep him safe.

"Don't use him, don't harm him. I never wanted him to be with you."

"I never wanted to be with any of you."

The fox lived freely once, long, long ago. He did not always have a human vessel, not until her predecessor, Mito, sealed him into herself. Before then the fox would cause destruction across the lands.

"Neither of you wanted this but helping him is the only way…"

Though the fox once was free, he was sought after for his power. Many have tried to do what her mentor Mito had done. And some had gained his power, some stole it.

Gold and Silver would make the fox's stomach ache but Madara, his name would leave a bitter taste in the fox's mouth. He was the catalyst to the fox's freedom being taken away. The fox held a great amount of hate toward him.
"He is alive isn't he? If he embraced his hate then he would be all-powerful."

That fateful night a masked man removed the fox from his vessel. His freed was short lived however; the brat was like the man he hated most, Madara. He manipulated the fox to strike down the village around them. Soon after in an attempt to save the village and seek revenge on the masked-man, her husband disregarded her plan to rather sealing the beast into their newborn.

"Let him surrender to his hate."

It was the worst night of her life, not because she died but because she and her husband could not save their son. She was not able to cradle him, feed him, bathe him, read to him or sing to him. She couldn't celebrate his birthdays or cry when he went to school. That would be her only regret, not at least being there for him.

"You took away his parents, the least you can do is help him.

Time was up; she became to fade away, for good this time. The Kyuubi watched her disappear, giving him a sad smile. With the last of her chakra, she beseeches with the fox.

"I do not beg, but I will plead with you as a mother, please protect him….Or I'll give you true hell."
