It's been months since she's seen Rose. No sign of her after the Cybermen invasion. Till now Jackie has refused to look at the dead list. She couldn't risk the chance that Rose would be up on that list. She was the last thing she had. If Rose was gone, all was gone. But the Doctor promised her. Promised her to keep her precious Rose safe. No, she had just left with the Doctor, to clean everything up after an invasion. I must have caused a huge dissruption in time, but Jackie wasn't so sure. She didn't really know how time worked with the Doctor yet. But Jackie kept telling herself she would come back. She has to come back.
Only a few days later, Jackie looks up from the sink. That sound, she knows that sound. The TARDIS. It's finally come back. She'll see her Rose again. She runs outside, this time on her own. No Mickey to come running down the street to tell her he hears the TARDIS too. No, this time it was just Jackie. She has to trust that this time, this is actually it. Lately, she's been convincing herself she hears the TARDIS every 5 minutes. She looks around trying to find that cursed blue box. She sees it materializing up ahead, dashing towards it. Rose. She hadn't seen Rose since the invasion. Hadn't gotten a sign from her. Not a phone call, or a bizarre message, (who knows with the Doctor,) nothing. She never got a story of her adventures out of her. Maybe this time she will. She'll have to be able to tell her about how she saved the world. She approaches the box, and see The Doctor step out. Shuffling his feet, head down, shoulders hunched. Jackie kept staring at the door. "Where's Rose?" The doctor looks up. His eyes are red. She can barely make out the faded tracks that his tears ran down on his cheeks.
"She's gone." He mutters. Gone? She just can't be gone.
"What do you mean gone! You promised you'd take care of her!" Jackie shouted. She let Rose go. She never should have. But he promised. He promised he would keep her safe. And now she was gone.
"I tried Jackie." he pleaded. "It was the only way I could save her." Pure rage replaced Jackie's sorrow. She slapped him across the face. Once. Twice. Tree times. The doctor squeezed his eyes shut, holding his face. "I tried Jackie." he whispered. "Not just for you. I need her too. It was the only way I could keep her safe." He looked up at her. "She's with Mickey now, and.." The doctor seems at a loss. "Jackie she's safe, she's just not with us." One more lonely tear rolled down a lonely doctor's face. "She's not dead. Just gone."
