No! It couldn't be. He couldn't be falling like this for his fellow soldier. Males didn't go with males, always female and male; such was the natural order of things.
Yet, when they had celebrated the defeat of the Narnians and Razzan, drunk by the wine they'd been served, had kissed his cheek he hadn't felt disgust, quite the contrary. The moment he'd realized that he shouldn't have accepted the display of affection he'd withdrawn to the edge of the party, just hoping his comrades would soon forget.
Lost in his own thoughts he wandered further and further into the woods, not noticing that he was talking loudly to himself. Suddenly a tiny voice brought him out of his confused state of mind.
"What we have here is a failure to communicate."
Turning around he saw a small being sitting on a branch right next to him, it was green-skinned, had a long tail and a pair of strange whirling eyes. When it opened its mouth an impossibly long tongue darted forwards.
"What... what are you?" He stammered, staring at the strange creature in fear and wonder.
"I'm a cape dwarf chameleon, come on; there's no need to be so frightened. What harm could I possibly do you?"
Realizing that the creature, the chameleon, was right he let go of his swords, which he unknowingly had gripped the moment he'd heard the strange voice.
"What did you mean? By what you said." He asked, ignoring the part of him which screamed that he shouldn't be talking to this being who, without doubt, was one of the Narnians.
"You weren't exactly quiet, stomping through the wood, talking to yourself like that. Listen; if that guy likes you, and you like him, what is the problem really?"
"It's just not done." Yet as he said it he couldn't help but wonder who, or what, had decided that it was indeed wrong.
"Love wasn't meant to be put into boxes."
It was true. Wasting no time he turned around and stormed back to the camp where his comrades were still celebrating. The moment he entered the clearing Razzan saw him, and quickly walked over to him.
"There you are." He said. "I was worried for you. Look, about before; I'm sorry, I shouldn't have..."
He didn't allow him to finish, instead he pressed his lips against the other man's lips.
"I don't care what everyone else thinks." He whispered when they finally broke apart. "You're the one that I love."
