Disclaimer: I don't own LOST.

A/N: I tried something with this that's a bit different, so please let me know what you think.

Kate stood at the edge of the ocean with a rag and a plate. It wasn't like she had anything better to do. She thought back on her conversation with Jack, before he had gone off to eat with Juliet.

She felt like an idiot. What was she doing, licking the spoon? Had she really stooped that low? Would she really do anything to catch his attention? It had been so unlike her, it had shocked her really. Apparently it hadn't had much of an effect on Jack though, since he had said nothing of it and had gone straight to Juliet. Kate clenched her jaw. She hated her.

"Need some help?"

Kate turned.

Jack was walking towards her, a rag in hand.

"I thought you were eating dinner."

Jack shrugged. "Turns out I'm not hungry."

Kate tried to hide a smile. "Okay."

Jack picked up a bowl and started to wash it. They enjoyed a couple of minutes in silence, before Jack spoke again.

"This really makes you appreciate dishwashers." He commented.

Kate laughed, and Jack smiled.

"Yeah. We had one in the hatch, so we were spoiled for a while, but that didn't last too long." Kate rambled on.

"I really missed the ocean." Jack said, staring out at it.

Kate took a deep breath. "Me too." I missed being with you.

"I forgot how beautiful it is." Jack paused and looked at Kate. I never forgot how beautiful you are.

"It's really relaxing." I feel safe when I'm with you.

Jack cleared his throat and picked up a spoon. He stared at it for a second, before he began to wash it. "I wonder what we would do if we didn't have spoons."

Kate picked up a fork and pointed it at him. "I wonder what we would do if we didn't have forks."

"True." Jack laughed a little.

"We are pretty lucky to have some of these things."

"If we wanted to, we could probably go back to the houses and get some stuff." Jack said.

"I'll go with you." Kate offered. We can work this out.

"I didn't say I was going." You hurt me.

"Well, if you decide to go, I'll come along." We just need time.

"You always want to go on the missions don't you?" Jack smiled. I like that about you.

"And you always want me to stay." Kate pointed out. I hate that about you.

"I just want you to be safe." I don't know what I would do if you got hurt.

Kate set down her fork. "You know, the spoon make sure you scoop up everything, but if you use a fork, the food can slip through the gaps. But if you have a spork, then you have something special." Kate stared at the plastic spork she picked up.

"What if the spork breaks?" Jack asked almost teasingly.

"You can always fix it." Kate replied. Let's start over.

A/N: So yeah, that was kind of weird. Reviews would be appreciated!
