Eyes to the future
Chapter 1
(Unknown person POV)
It was one of those mornings where nothing went right, I hate mornings like that trust me. I was getting ready to have breakfast; while my two best friends since Kindergarten Kara and Chelsea were still getting ready. We shared a three-bedroom apartment together; my Cousin Tina liked to drop in sometimes.
I sighed as I glanced at the coffee pot brewing; and I checked my watch and headed for my laptop to check my mail.
So, who am I you may be asking yourself? My name is Kathy; my friends call me KitKat for short I have no idea why but it's all good. I am kind of the odd ball of the group I say odd ball because I have telekinesis and for the most part it's alright. I got it from my Grams her side of the family had it. The only drawback to it is if I use it too much I get drained to the point I fall; I like the being able to move things with my mind part. Though, I could do without the mind-blowing visions I get when I touch something. It tends to really cause my head to want to explode with headaches after; and my nose bleeds sometimes from it. So yeah, my mom used to say it was a gift; I on the other hand sometimes called it a curse.
Now, let's see if I can tell you a little bit more about myself; well I am sarcastic always quick with a retort not always a good thing, though. I tend to get myself into a lot of trouble; which is why my two best friend Kara and Chelsea and I get along so well. We have this no nonsense don't get into my face attitude; which makes us have this incredible knack for getting into tomfoolery.
I write for a magazine every so often; it's an okay job. I love writing though. I write Transformers fan fiction as well; most of my stories center on Optimus Prime. He is my favorite Autobot. Kara and Chelsea also like Transformers like I do; except Kara is crazy about Bumblebee. Chelsea always liked Jazz and Prowl.
Kara worked at a nightclub where she sang; and trust me she could sing. Kara had a bumblebee tattoo on her thigh and always wore shorts to show off her tattoo. Kara also had the whole get out of my face attitude going for her as well. Chelsea could be sarcastic but not like Kara and me; we had that attitude down perfectly. Chelsea didn't work she had money left to her from her parents; so, she basically didn't bother to work she could pay her half of the rent from that.
I mentioned my cousin Tina, right? Well she could be totally airheaded sometimes; but I loved her just the same. I could say it's because she's a blonde; but I doubt that is the real reason. I used to have darker hair; but I lightened it a bit. I seriously doubt hair color really has anything to do with how someone is either completely stupid or ditsy.
I sat on a chair and finished up my newest chapter for my Transformers fan fiction; and smirked as I re read the chapter checking for errors. I was rather pleased with myself I only found a few grammar problems; I mean no one is perfect that's what editors are for, seriously. I got up and refreshed my coffee; and squirted some liquid coffee mate vanilla caramel, awesome tasting of course!
"Hey girl," Kara said as she walked into the kitchen.
"What's up?" I asked as Kara put some hot water into the kettle; she was undoubtedly going to fix herself hot chocolate the girl loved chocolate anything chocolate.
"Not much, hey what's on the agenda for today?" Kara asked me.
I shrugged, and smirked.
"Not much, why...?" I asked her.
"Well, I wanted to get a new slinky dress for tonight at the nightclub; and could use some help picking it out." Kara replied as the tea kettle whistled and she fixed her hot chocolate.
"Hmmm, that would mean a shopping trip; now when have I ever turned down a shopping trip before?" I asked with a loopy grin.
"Never," Kara laughed as Chelsea came into the kitchen half-awake still.
"Better grab some coffee; you look like you need it." Kara said to Chelsea.
Chelsea smirked and grabbed a coffee mug and fixed herself a cup of coffee.
"I was up late working on my fan fiction in my room," Chelsea said.
"Is it down?" I asked.
"Nope, why on Earth would it be finished that would make it too easy for my life?" Chelsea said as she laughed.
I looked around for something to munch on and decided to settle for a corn muffin; and Chelsea wrinkled her nose then.
"Why don't you just use your mind and bring it right over toward you?" she asked me as Kara frowned at her.
"She can't just willy-nilly use it; it will drain her, Chelsea." Kara replied.
"Yeah, I forgot about that," Chelsea said.
Silence droned us for a bit.
"Hey guys, Age of extinction is on tonight, did you know that?" Chelsea asked us.
Kara scoffed then, we didn't like that movie at all. I did like Optimus' new look though; he looked rather gorgeous in his Knight look.
Here it comes I thought as I saw the expression on Kara's face; she was going to call it like she saw it that was one of things I liked about her.
"I didn't like that one," Kara said.
"Yeah, I didn't either; and this bit where the world didn't know they were hunting Autobots, I don't buy that either all those billboards. And when Grammar's character made those remarks to that guy who said someone wanted to either speak with Optimus or something. Then Grammar's character said they didn't belong on Earth that remark in itself should have told him." I said.
"Yeah, I don't buy that the military higher ups would publicly announce a truce, and NOT know there was an entire branch of the military out hunting the Autobots who were meant to be allowed to live peacefully. I mean, if the humans were targeted as well, surely one of them could get some kind of message out publicly, that the government was hunting Autobots who were supposed to be protected." Kara said as I nodded.
"Yeah seriously, it's like the president completely turned his back on Optimus and let that group do as they please." I remarked.
"And I have a hard time believing that everyone in the government would give up on the Autobots. Maybe if they didn't know them, I could see it. But knowing and befriending them, and being through all the good and the bad with them? I don't see these people as just disappearing off the face of the Earth when the Autobots needed them." Kara said her eyes flared as she spoke, she was just as passionate Transformers as I was.
"The writers are jerks. They left out so much. The two scenes that bothered me the most apart from Optimus being made so blood thirsty. I didn't like Ratchet's death scenes or when Optimus woke up in Cade's barn and his audio fell off and he looked so afraid. How they made him back up so afraid of Cade like that really bothered me; and hell remember some of the people who had tears in their eyes in that scene, Kara?" I asked her.
"Yes, I do." she answered. "It was heartbreaking actually." Kara replied.
Kara was silent for a few moments; and then spoke.
"I like the idea of Optimus afraid. It makes him more human and real. If they can be happy and sad and angry, they can be afraid too, and considering how badly damaged Optimus was, and the fact that the last humans he last encountered were working with Decepticons, I think his fear is founded. But the bloodthirsty nature I didn't care for. I could see it, to a point, but they overdid it. And they had Autobots shooting around humans for no reason other than to distract and disarm, but they were still shooting at them, and this was before Age of extinction. My biggest dislike was the complete and total overhaul. No human allies left, no story telling what happened to them, and a completely different set of Autobot allies, except for Bumblebee." Kara said as Chelsea just sat there listening to our grievances about the movie.
"I liked it," Chelsea said with a grin.
"Yeah, we know and you can like it; we're not telling you not to." I said with a laugh.
"So, are you coming with me to go shopping then?" Kara asked me.
"But of course, let's go." I said as Kara smirked.
"I will pay for the cab this time since I asked you to come with me," she said.
"I would have gone Dutch; it didn't matter." I said.
Kara smirked.
"Its fine, besides you can get the next one." Kara said.
"We need a car," Chelsea said.
"No one drives, remember?" I said to her as she popped a piece of a sugar donut into her mouth; and then shrugged.
"One of us could learn, right?" she asked as Kara and I looked at each other and burst out into a fit of laughter.
"In Chicago, are you for real?" Kara and I questioned at the same time.
"I'm just saying, it's a plausible question I think anyway." she said.
"So is begging for money on the street but you don't see us doing that, do you?" Kara snapped as I burst into laughter and grabbed my purse.
"Hey, are you getting your tattoo today?" Chelsea asked me.
"Yeah, maybe I will." I answered.
Kara smirked.
"Which one?" she asked me.
"Autobot insignia," I replied.
"Yes, you go girl!" Kara exclaimed.
I shook my head, I was finally breaking down. I hated needles, I really did but I had decided to go for it what could it hurt?
Famous last words, right?
