Disclaimer: I do not own Blood+. If I do own it, Hagi will most probably be my husband, which is impossible.
Author's note: This is my first fanfic for Blood+, so be easy on me, ok? I know I've got a lot of spelling and grammar errors, so once again be easy on me and please do tell me the errors. I'm not really that good in English.
The Promise
She was only twelve that time when she made Hagi, her future husband, promised her something. She regretted it afterward and scolded herself for being such a foolish child. She shouldn't have said it, if she knew it will happen. And now the guilt, the heartbreak; hunting her every night and day.
I'm sorry, love.
Flashback…
"Hagi, will you come back for me after the war?" asked the little Saya.
"…I will," Hagi answered her. He was eighteen, going to be nineteen by the end of this month. After he reached the age twenty-five, he will be wed to Saya. It's not like he was in love with her, he had no choice. It was an arranged marriage by his and Saya's family.
"You'll be safe, right? Because Papa said…Papa said you're going to be my husband," she blushed at this. She never felt the same thing to other boys…nor she has one. Infact, Hagi was the first boy had ever talked to her. Comfort her. She was madly in love with him.
"Of course, little one," Hagi smiled at her.
"Will you promise me, Hagi, that you will always come back to me, no matter what?" she looked at him straight in his eyes.
"I promise you. I will come back, no matter what," he promised her. She smiled and hugged him.
"I love you, Hagi," she said it from the bottom of her heart.
"I love you too," he lied.
I'm sorry, Saya.
End of flashback…
Hagi always keep his promise. He returned, only for her.
His heart ached, when he saw Saya for the first time after five years. She had grown into a woman, a beautiful one indeed. After all these years, he finally realized his feelings towards the lovely maiden.
It was too late, though. No one can see him; he was dead a long time ago during the war between human and vampires. He's just a spirit, bound to a promise he made to her.
'Saya,' he uttered her name.
She turned around immediately. Someone called her name and the voice, it was familiar.
"Hagi?" she murmured. No, it cannot be. He was long dead.
But, as wind passed by her ears, she can hear it clearly, the words he whispered,
"I love you, Saya. Always."
I love you too, Hagi. Always.
